How about "a normal world"...?

The word "normal" can be rather subjective. What's "normal" to you may not be so for others. I'd ask for clarification if somebody said "normal Christians" on what it was meant by that since it is subjective.

Ah, ok. My subjective definiton of normal muslim is YOU as a muslim, and still posted on those forums and loved the one you do and worked as you do. The only difference would be that you cursed those christian extremists, instead of muslims. :)

Regardless, no religion is without a bloody cause.

I am just having a hard time of trying to apply it to Buddhism right now. :hmm:

we invented "Make Love, Not War" :naughty:

I must say, it has been a joy to be able to have an open minded and creative discussion with several ADers today. Something I have missed recently!

And now, there are chores I must tend to, but trust me, I'll be back. You (and you know to whom I refer :giggle:) have given me renewed faith in nature of most ADers!

Agreed. I, too, find sharia law quite disturbing in many facets. However, in comparison, there are those Christian groups that support their own version of sharia law in application to the topic of gays and cheating.

I applaud you for wanting to read the Quran and develop your own, informed, and educated opinion. And your willingness to consider the input of other thinkers, despite their particular religious persuasion. There is a reason you have always been one of my favorite posters.

Thanks ;) You are right about christian "sharia laws" in underdeveloped countries, didn't think about it for a moment here. Some christians do actually eat human flesh in some areas of africa.

Hm, what about the buddhistic goverment of Burma? They supress christian and muslims and are at civil war with indigenous people in north. Only buddhists can join the army or get work in the goverment of burma.

Not to mention that buddhists are killing each other in Bangkok at this very moment.

oh damn flip beat you to it, souggy

Any extremists.

Any extremists.

Do you prefer to have Christian church over mosque near ground zero in NYC? If yes then why and tell me a difference about between of them?

It appears that my thread will soon be locked because this has devolved into a religious "discussion." Sigh...

My viewpoint is that yes, Muslims have a constitutional right to build their mosques in areas that are zoned for houses of worship, same as Christians, Jews, or any other religion in America. That is a legal point, not a religious one.

However, being that they should be fully aware of how that choice of location would be offensive and hurtful to many people, was it a wise move on their part? Is it an action that will foster better understanding of their faith (if that's what they want)? Does this choice of location make them seem conciliatory towards non-Muslim Americans?

The difference is, it wasn't members of a Christian church who flew the planes into the World Trade Center.

At the very least, building a mosque in that area is very insensitive.
