I'm starting to see everything is getting overwhelmed with all sort of methods.. but I think SEE deaf can read captioning should be enough, wouldn't it?
right but would it be fair if captioning was not provided? That is what I think the point is of the OP. Only sign language was provided. What about all of the others that don't know sign language? Is it fair to leave them out?

no, they need a CART type of interpreter for speakers. And Oral speakers for hearing or HOH for sign speakers. And they need lots of notes and written details so they don't have to ask around. I really don't like bringing my hearing aids to six flags . I like to leave them at home because I'm scared I'll lose it (taking it off, putting back on, taking off, putting back on just to communicate with the workers)

Let the oral deafies complain. If they say nothing, then nothing will change.

Are you saying that accomodation shouldn't be made for those who are deaf/hh but don't know sign language at Six Flags D/HH Awareness Day? What do you mean by that comment of yours?

If they are complaining about it but not speaking up about it then Six Flags wont be aware and change the accodomations.

That is what I mean..nothing more and nothing less.

Yes, they can read captioning if they are fluent in English.

if Six Flags KNOWINGLY excluded the service for deafies who don't know sign language - then this is a hypocrisy and discrimination.

but did they?

My question is..how does one watch captioning when the plays/shows are done outside?

Yet, do you support communication accomodation to those who do not know sign language? Such as the use of CART type situations at Six Flags.

Couldn't closed captioning be provided to outdoors shows via large screens teleprompter style? But maybe I am asking to much......

Couldn't be too hard to make an Iphone or other smart phone app that could be downloaded with the shows lines and ride information for parks so that it could be followed without a terp for those who do not know ASL. Could it?:hmm:

Of course I do.

Doesn't hurt to make those suggestions. Why not?

4 words for you - shut the fuck up. and enjoy the rides. would you like that in CC or cued speech?

Don’t you have anything better to do than to sit around and make a mountain out of molehill? Talk about hypocrisy here.

Your obviously not hearing impaired ..... :cool2:

I don't accuse them of hypocrisy or discrimination first. :cool2:

but what if it is hypocrisy and discrimination? are only capital D deafies allowed to call it out?

What about late deafened adults? Do you suggest they learn to Sign and communicate that way only?

see? another bad habit of asking a silly hypothetical question :)

did they willfully and knowingly ignore us?

how is this my problem?

I am a capital Deaf but whenever I go to these Deaf awareness events, I dont think about captioning or anything like that because my communication needs are met. Maybe many other Deaf arent thinking of this when going to the Deaf awareness events. We think about having a blast, not politics.

Right..if they feel that their communication or access needs arent being met, then they need to speak out. If not, then they are contributing to the problem.
