Mario Villanueva Is Accused of Aiding Juarez Cartel, Laundering Money Through Lehman Bros

Mario Ernesto Villanueva Madrid, former governor of the Mexican state that holds Cancun and dozens of other Caribbean beach resorts, has been extradited to New York on charges of accepting bribes from a violent drug cartel that smuggled hundreds of tons of cocaine into the U.S. and then laundering the bribe money through Lehman Brothers.

Villanueva was extradited Saturday to federal authorities in the Southern District of New York on charges that he accepted $19 million in bribes from the Juarez cartel in exchange for allowing the cartel free rein to smuggle Colombian cocaine through the state of Quintana Roo to the U.S. Prosecutors allege that he received $500,000 for each shipment.

The former governor was also extradited on a second indictment, in which he is charged with laundering his alleged trafficking profits through accounts at Lehman Brothers in New York and elsewhere. On Saturday morning he was turned over by Mexico's Attorney General's Office to the DEA and the U.S. Marshals Service and flown by DEA jet from Mexico City to White Plains, New York.

Villanueva, known in Mexico by the nickname "El Chueco" – the crooked one -- has been in prison in Mexico since 2001 on charges of taking bribes to let cocaine traffickers, including police officers, smuggle drugs through the state. He is the highest ranking politician in Mexico ever subject to a drug-related investigation while still in office.

Now 61, Villaneuva became mayor of the area that includes Cancun in 1990, then took a seat in the Mexican Senate before being elected to a six-year term as governor of Quintana Roo in 1993.

Criminal charges were filed against Villaneuva for drug trafficking and money laundering while he was still governor, but he was immune from prosecution while in office. He disappeared two weeks before the ceremony where he was scheduled to hand over the governorship to his successor.

Ok. The border is still too porous. Drugs will still flow through them. Needs more security, monitoring, National Guards, ICE, and so on. National security is at risk. The president's first job is national security which includes the borders.

all for more reason why our Drug War policy is failing. No matter how many more National Guards/ICE are added... and how much more money is poured in... the National Security is still compromised because there are corruptions at higher level.

hence - Governor of New Mexico.

An Act of War would be poisoning U.S. citizens and making them dependent on narcotics.

kind of like that ..... when did teachers lose the "right" to clinically diagnose children with ADD/ADHD (which, by the way is treated with narcotics)?

Do pharmaceutical companies pay doctors to prescribe?

uh... I have absolutely no idea what you just said there. I'm guessing you are currently under influence of narcotic substance? :dunno:

did drug cartels inject narcotic substance into drug addicts?

Why does that not surprise me? :hmm:

So the entire military healthcare system should be disassembled then? Should we stop all on-going dialysis? Oh, we can think of a billion legal venues in which U.S. citizens become addicted to narcotics, and become drug-seekers in absence of proper rehab.

The over-usage of prescription ADD/ADHD drugs is small fry compared to the above.

I ask same because you pretty much avoided my 2 questions. :hmm:

I suppose you're here to flood this thread with no intention to debate intellectually :dunno:

Of course you can ... getting kids hooked early was the example given.

so you're saying our American pharmaceutical companies are now the enemy combatants by your definition of Act of War?

No, I am saying Mexican drug cartels supplying the demand from crooked American pharmaceutical companies is an act of war.

Drugs are illegal, except when they are not. See the loophole that was closed?

If you were paying any attention over the past 20 years, you would have seen pharmaceutical companies coming out with wonder drugs for anything that ails ya.

What happened to eating right and exercising?

Why are doctors being paid to prescribe?

Why are recent studies showing most people are being misdiagnosed?

$$$$

"What happened to eating right and exercising."

1950s happened. Noticed dogs' lifespans are a lot shorter now on the factory-produced kibble-diet that was introduced in the 1950s, compared to the table scrap diet of earlier decades? The effect was obvious back then on animals that have one-tenth of the lifespan of a human being

But since human beings have such notoriously long lifespan... it's not surprising we're only seeing the effect of the factory-line food NOW.

Do you have actual data or links showing the lifespan of dogs over time or what? TY.

Vegetables are also picked before they are ripe so they can be shipped.

You do not have the same nutrients (almost none) in store bought vegetables.

Your body consumes **I think** 29 or 30 different kinds of sugars. These glyco nutrients help your body heal.

Your not getting the same nutrients your grandparents got.

btw - aren't you being a silly hypocrite? I mean.... looking at the pix of yourself you posted in pix thread... that's not quite a good example of "eating right and exercising" on your part......

More reasons to buy local. Sure it costs more, but the medical expenses will be a lot less when you're 40, 50, 60 onward. So you're getting your money back in the long run, theoretically.
