I honestly would consider it more seriously if I had the money to do and I knew there was a decent paying job waiting for me. Plus I am pretty much tied up in my studies here. I plan to finish them within the next two or three years depending on how things go and what unfolds in front of me.

You're absolutely right. As a single parent I have to do whatever it takes to make ends meet. Plus that poultry money is pretty much paying my way through school a little bit at a time. And I admit there are times I do feel a bit ashamed of it knowing I'm the only blue collar poultry worker in a roomful of doctors dentists veterinarians lawyers and educators. Maybe it's the feeling of inadequacy compared to other people.

Hey, don't let it bother you, girl. If any of them were in your shoes, they would no doubt do the same thing! And in the end, you will be the more empathetic and stronger person for having survived all you have gone through.

I guess it does in a way knowing that these chickens were literally born to die. They only get six to eight weeks breathe air then boom they are rounded up and shoved into cages and hauled to a slaughter house. I can only imagine the fear they are feeling but at the same time I don't want to put human emotions into an animal because animals don't think and respond to situations the way we might. But yeah I can imagine the fear as they are being hung upside down on a shackle in a dark room where you are disoriented and can't see.

No. Not unless I wanted everything with fur and four legs desexed and eventually those animals die and there will be no pets or animals to worry about. Lol.

I try not to but times have changed to the point that there isn't any honor in a hard days work anymore. On top of that the ones willing to work in poultry anymore are the immigrants. You don't see many Americans working in poultry ants anymore. If you do it's autmatically thought that you are a highschool drop out that has a drug or alcohol problem or is a felon and can't get employed anywhere else. It's like you are the bottom of the barrel pickings. When i say I am a USDA trimmer people automatically assume I work for the USDA as an inspector and I have to explain to them exactly what my job is and then they are like "oh.". Like they are disappointed or something for being white and working at Tyson.

I used to be, but they are way too extreme! I am all for getting rid of animal cruelty, but they were nuts!:shock:


I think I just almost set a kitchen fire! I got the fire alarm isn't going off!:shock:

Perhaps society as a whole is leaning in that direction. I certainly see it. However, we can continue to be a good example by taking personal pride in providing our employers with a day's work for a day's pay. Maybe that will have an impact on someone just entering the world of work. At the very least, we will be happier with ourselves for not caving into the masses.
