No problem, just remember this is an open forum. If you have a question directly for a member, ask them in PM's. Much easier that way

The rules for SSA and SSI are totally different. SSI looks at what you have and practically everything you own while SSA ignores what you have and some sources of "income" aren't counted. In other words, you can make millions and still collect SSA. A lot of wealthy people collect SSA because they are legally eligible for it.

As for "I worked so hard for this..." - I'd say, "so what?" What's exactly "hard work?" And there are some rich people who hardly lift a finger and still make a fortune usually though inheritance or networking support. Some people are naturally workaholics and some aren't.

The goal of SSI is to provide Americans the minimum necessities so they can survive and pursue their goals. We have plenty of studies showing that kids who have shelter and food tend to perform better in school than those who don't.

I do believe that people on SSI should be required to work for the community for like a few days a month. I think it's inexcusable that they just collect money and do nothing but watch TV and eat junk food when they could be doing something productive for this society. Perhaps mandate them to go to school or home economics class. If they abuse drugs or smoke, put them in rehab.

Yup, agreed, I think anyone who live on SSI should do volunteering job aka community service unless they are 100% unable to work due severe disabled.

If they are that severely disabled, they are most likely getting SSD instead of SSI.

By SSA do you mean SSDI or the retirement benefit?

Yes, SSA is what you or your spouse or your parent put money into for you based on earned credits. It's ALWAYS a lot more than SSI because you worked for it.

I see this post and have mixed feelings. Why don't you follow your own example at times??

But if she does that...

AllDeaf will fall apart!

Koko and Jilio are like...

Ying and yang.

USSR and United States.

When AllDeaf doesn't have a bipolar balance, it just fall apart-- just like our world is right now. :(
