Sequoias, look up today's spot price of a troy oz of gold and then do the math but sit down first.

Today, market closed at 1,126.30 per ounce for gold.

So at the current value...gold is worth $16,439.6 for a US pound. US pound=14.6 troy oz.

yup there are things that are harder to find, and worth much more too.

Gold binds with everything in the world, pretty much. There's a reason it's very highly dangerous to separate gold from other materials.
