India, China won't sign Copenhagen Accord

it's so comical that kokonut thinks if they don't sign it, the global warming isn't happening! LOL!

Yup, he has serious problem with thinking of global warming.

Time for you to fix kokonut's mind?

They don't sign because they know it's not an emergency unlike you and others who think cute polar bears are going to drown.

In other words, you actually believe that CO2, which makes up only .038 percent of the atmosphere, is directly responsible for Earth's global warming? And that CO2 in the atmosphere is a *major* (as opposed to very minor player) contributor on global warming?

Do you know how small .038 percent is? If I had $10,000 dollars that .038 pecent would be the equivalent of three dollars and eighty cents. Compared to water vapor it makes up 3.0 percent of the atmosphere, or 78 times more dense by volume than CO2.

That's your views about global warming so we do have different views too so you are not correct or wrong.

You have serious problem about being deny of global warming, even you are off the edge when come with your post when India or China won't sign.

Tell me, exactly where is this emergency and reason to sign? Where is this emergency? You need to explain to me and the rest of the people where is this emergency to sign papers that would cripple any country their economy.

We already know that the IPCC is corrupt. The data is either corrupt, highly questionable or even "missing". There is no transparency here between scientists who side with the IPCC to the rest of the world's scientists. There are evidences on the suppression of scientific papers for peer review that showed data results not favorable to the global warming theory.

I have word for you, I loled.

did they say that?

Would you sign it knowing it'd cripple your country's economy? How dire is this emergency anyway? Not much according to their refusal to sign. And no, they didn't say that. But their actions pretty much tells the story.

well I'm not the President of United States so no I cannot sign it lol. But that question is irrelevant since this thread is about India and China refusing to sign it.

ah so they never said that so... are you just spinning it as usual? :)

Based on the link you provided in your OP - 2 important excerpts -

An Indian official said that though the government had been thinking of signing the accord because it “did not have any legal teeth and would be good diplomatically”

“So if the US is not going to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent, which was a very weak target anyway, why should we make any commitment even if it does not have any legal teeth?” the official said.

China also appears in no mood to sign the accord.

“With the deadline postponed, we are not going to sign now,” said a Chinese official now here to take part in the BASIC (Brazil, South Africa, India, China) meeting to chalk out a climate strategy.

The meeting of the four environment ministers Sunday is likely to end with the announcement of a fund they will set up to help other developing countries cope with the effects of climate change, said an official of the environment ministry.

Only four countries -- Australia, Canada, Papua New Guinea and the Maldives -- have signed the Copenhagen Accord so far, though Brazil, South Africa and South Korea have also indicated their willingness to do so.

interesting. So based on that...

1. notice who signed it and who didn't sign it. Those who signed it are wealthy well-developed nations and those who didn't sign it are poor. Obviously China and India are interested in making $$$$. This treaty is not profitable to them. I'm not surprised.

2. Funny that they (BASIC - Brazil, South Africa, India, China) recognized the negative effects of global warming have on us and they're meeting together to talk about helping other nations to cope with it? That's more expensive than investing in the first place to prevent that from happening - at least that's what they're most likely going to do based on their previous track records. Wait till the problem hits and then patch it up... enact the laws to ensure that it will not happen again..... to some degree.

India and China didn't sign it because both are ambitious, emerging superpowers that don't give a shit about human life or the implications of their actions.

*golf clap*

Yes, I know. An "accord" isn't a legal agreement but just an agreement to do something. Hence, the "Copenhagen Accord."

Prevent what from happening? Less hurricane activities? Stem the rising ocean's water level which has been rising on average since 1700s (when recording began) at a rate of about +/- 2 mm a year? Prevent what?

Btw, sea level has been rising ever since the peak end of the last ice age 20,000 years ago when ocean sea level was 120 m lower (about 380 feet less) and that's when the warming began causing more ice to melt and return to the sea raising the sea level and it was rapid at first and slowed down since then.
Sea Level Rise Ice Mm/yr Years Century Ocean Rate Change Mm/y

Implication of their actions? What? Like Earth will boil over because they didn't sign the accord or what?
