How do apps disappear from iPod touch?

My elderly neighbor lady has a new iPod Touch. She downloaded a few apps from the iTunes store. Three of them work fine. The other one she could never open. It just "bounced" when she tapped it. Then one day it bounced and disappeared.

What happened to that app, and how can she get it back?

I believe she click "x" on the icon by accident that it got delete. Go to itune then go to devices (user's name for ipod touch) then go to applications then check in the list for sync then click sync. She should get apps back.
