AT&T wants out of landline business

I read the article and it saying that AT&T wanted to get rid of the legacy phone network or phone landline.

They want to use the line for broadband connections only and not spend more money on older analog phone or "legacy" phones system or maintain them.

I think they want to use the landline bandwidth to make room for their new voip and tv and internet service and try to make a profit.

I agree with AT&T that the legacy phone network need to go bye bye, it a waste of resource and money.

911 calls can still be maintain on broadband lines and some voip phone have batteries in it in event of a blackout.

I believe this is the main reason. Problem with legacy telephone is that FCC have set limit to 56K speed, which is way way way too slow.
