I know this is a depressing topic to bring up on Christmas Eve but with recent threads inquiring about SexyPorkie and Jillio, I decided to bring this matter up.

For those who are frequent ADers who have friends here, I was wondering if you all can tell a close family member/friend or two that you are a member of AD and if something happens to us, have that family member or friend be responsible for signing in using our account and letting everyone know that we are unable to come to AD for whatever reason? This issue would be helpful for many of us. I am going to tell my hubby and brother about AD and give them my password.

What do you think?

Do whatever you feel comfortable doing. If something happened to me, someone would find out anyway... rather talk to a friend that is well-connected on the Internet over my family. Odd, I know.

I mean that if something happened to you, will someone you know be able to come on AD and let us know about you? So we wont be wondering where you are?

Or Facebook, or Twitter or one of my blogs... or my e-mail... or AIM and MSN. I get around. Or one of the three societies I am registered to. :cool2:

I make sure that it will spread like wildfire. Plus one of my friends got access to e-mail accounts and a few other vitals, excluding my banking accounts.

I have asked my older daughter and she agreed to be your informant.

Touchy subject because of my health, and she is insisting I will live another 40 years.

If I don't , I am just getting cremated, no services. But she will tell you. :)

Shel, I have thought of this exact same thing myself on more than one occasion.

Good point...I didnt think of that.

I never did until recently because of SexyPorkie and jillio. I know that members come and go but it would be nice to know if everyone is ok. :)

My daughter had promise me that if something would happen to me that she would come to AD and let you all know. She said that she would sign up herself ( not log in on my sn/password).

Do you and everyone else think it is better if whoever who assign the responsibility sign on using their own username not under ours? Wouldnt want another ***** case :hmm: I will tell my daughter, hubby and brother to sign on her using a different username/password and let you all know if something has happened to me rather than using mine. I didnt think of that. Thanks Pepsi for mentioning that.

i could never tell someone in real life about this place or put it on my will. if i disappear, it's from real life getting busy or i've gone over to the dark side. :Ohno: :giggle:

Yeah, it was how I found out my best friend was in ICU. One of his friends posted the information on my friend's Facebook wall so all of us knew what happened. So yeah... all it require for me is one person to get a wind of it, then everyone else will know.

I hope you live for another 40 years or more!

I was just thinking about him ( you know who). yes, its better not to use our own sn. I will make sure I tell her that she must have proof of it.( When I pass away ) :)

You're welcome Shel :)

Yes. That would be great for all of us to know whats going on since we do talk to each other AD here for a long time.

I ll let my hubby know about it. thanks for making the thread.

i do wonder about jillio as well.

My son is already a member here on AD and I will make sure he knows what to do. He doesn't check in often, but I will have a talk with him.

I don't think I know SexyPorkie, but I do worry about the status with Jillio.

Botti- I think you will be around for a long while yet. You're just too special to be taken yet.

JClarke- I never thought about making a will as young as you are, but at least you got your head on right. Will get mine done here soon.

This has already happened to me, so it's a really go idea, Shel. A few members may rememeber when I got very sick a few years ago. In that case, and in any situation that may arise in the future, I asked an AD member to let ADers know. I DID NOT do that when I first got sick, but I DID let people know when I discovered I had the second pressure sore. In any case, if I should become seriiously ill in the future, I will let you all know via a fellow ADer. :)
