This is so bizarre!

"A man who walked into a Michigan diner with a 5-inch knife stuck in his chest ordered a coffee and complained only about the cold weather.

The 52-year-old man, who has not been identified, called a 911 operator in Warren on Sunday night to ask that an ambulance be sent to Bray's, an eatery in neighboring Hazel Park.

He said he had been stabbed during an attempted robbery half a mile away, then walked to the restaurant and called 911 from a pay phone.

On a recording of the call, the man gives a vague description of his attacker before saying, "I'm gonna sit down at Bray's 'cause they got a chair and it's cold out here."

Restaurant employee George Mirdita tells The Detroit News the man calmly ordered coffee.

Police said Tuesday that the man is recovering."

Man With Knife In Chest Calls 911, Orders Coffee

 Sometimes getting that first coffee of the day takes precedence over anything, and I mean ANYTHING else..

Guess he was immune to the pain?..Knive cuts really hurt! So I can imagine being stabbed!....Then again, he might have committed a crime, somebody caught him and stabbed him as he was trying to get away....when ur scared to death, you don't think about pain, only getting away. Think I'd rather be shot to death than stabbed to death.

Wow! Maybe he didnt like being cold and needed coffee to warm him up! Oh boy..

Maybe he has that genetic condition where you're born without the type of nerves that sense pain. :dunno:

Now that's my kind of guy. What a champ!

I think he probably had a high pain-threshold and was very calm and didn't go into shock. The knife probably missed his vital organs, and since it remained in place, it keep him from bleeding out.

People can do pretty amazing things when they don't panic. Why not get a cup a joe and wait for help?

Yeah... Glad he was smart enough to not pull the knife out. Many people panic and pull it out.. causing them to bleed out..

KUDOS to this gentleman that did the right thing...

More details - just mind boggling - i'd totally freak out! I cannot believe he actually walked a mile to call for 911!

"Police said the man told them he had been walking north on Warner Avenue near Eight Mile Road when another man approached him and demanded cash. The man told police that when he refused to hand over any cash, he was attacked and stabbed -- the knife being shoved into the left side of chest all the way to the black plastic handle.

Police said the man tried to get help at a nearby apartment complex, but when he didn’t find any, he called 911 from a pay phone at Dequindre and Nine Mile roads.

“Yes ma’am, could uh … is it possible to send an ambulance here?” the man is heard saying to a 911 operator. “There’s a knife stuck in my chest.”

The man goes on to tell the operator he thinks it’s a steak knife.

Mirdita said he can’t believe how calm the man was, and that he never complained of being in any pain.

“To come in with something stuck in your chest and order a cup of coffee, and sit down … he was mingling with the guy next to him,” he said.

The man was treated and police said he is expected to be fine."

I'm afraid to ask you what the alternatives are. :P

Wow, lucky bastard to survive the attack, I am sure he'll be glad to know that he didn't die, thus he's still here for Christmas :)

woah! I'd cry hahahaha lol and not move let alone walk a block or more to a coffee shop ahhha crazy

Now that's my kind of guy!!

I had a bullet in my foot before and I didn't feel pain for the next several hours, so I can imagine myself sipping on coffee for the time being.

... wait o_O did I drink coffee?

He's tough as nails....

stab him in the chest and he's still going out for coffee!
