I tried to build a big snowman in my backyard but I failed due to the snow falling apart. Anyone have any experience with building a life-size snowman and any tips? I would like to experience that for once in my lifetime and been unable to do so due to not enough snow here in MD. Finally, we have more than enough. Thanks!

sometimes the snow is too fluffy, you will have to wait til the snow to melt alittle bit (try again in the afternoon). you start out a small ball, roll it around in a circle til it gets alittle bigger (This require time and patience), when it get to alittle big as a basket ball, you can roll it around the yard to make it bigger.

Yeah your snow is too fresh or fluffy. ha If either the sun is coming up or the degrees have been climbng up then that would heat up the snow. Snow would become moist real good. You start out with a small ball just like making snowballs. Then roll it to get bigger and bigger. it is a good work out too!

That was what I tried...ok, so it is just too fluffy right now. Thanks for the help!

I figured it out after discovering that I could only make snowmen when the snow is about to melt. I could never figure out how people made it before the snow melt. Then I realized, they may have made it in the afternoon (or they are that good at building a snowman). But you can give it a try, My husband and son is going to try it too.

Fluffy snow sucks. :(

I like the wet thick snow. We've been getting a lot of these lately.

Maybe again on Wednesday!

You can use a spray bottle filled with hot water if you are impatient to get it to stick.

If it is fluffy, use bare hands to get a snowball together then make it bigger and bigger at one time. It is ready to roll over for the big one which is used as a base. Then repeat the process for body and head. Why bare hands? The body heat from them make fluffy snow become condensed.

Wearing mittens or winter gloves is the reason why the fluffy snow fall apart easily.

I have done it many times. :)

Really? I never thought of that! Makes sense! Thanks!

I will try tmw as the snow seems more compacted after a day in the sun. After I created this thread, I had to get ready to go do some Xmas shopping thinking I would be back by dark. The crowds and traffic made that impossible!

Thanks!
