Socialist countries less corrupted

The corruption index says otherwise - citizens of socialist countries are happy and they are content with "more government" and have MORE freedom and liberty.

Funny, those "socialist" countries give more civil rights than USA.

Some people wouldn't know as they never lived in any of them. Let alone the fact that some haven't even been outside of the country their entire lives.

Ignorance is bliss for some. In truth, it's just denial and insecurity.

It doesn't say that the countries actually have the lowest corruption; it says that the people perceive that they have low corruption. There is a difference.

The linked article says, "The CPI score indicates the perceived level of public-sector corruption in a country/territory."

They may have lowest but we can't know that from this survey. :dunno:

Perception can be wrong. Also, different people define "corruption" differently. In some countries bribery is an accepted way of doing government business; in other countries it's an unacceptable form of corruption.
 
One also would have to take population size in consideration.

The more people you have, the more likely corruptions will occur and sneaks by. However the smaller the population, the more likely people will ignore what is going on as well.
 
Right but even countries that we know are terribly corrupted are accurately perceived as corrupted.

But it also concides with other rankings showing that "socialist" countries tend to have more freedom, regardless of perception.
 
What those countries really have in common is economic freedom. Some of them have high taxes and redistribution policies which takes them down a few notches on the list, but besides that, they pretty much let you do what you want to do without breathing down your neck or standing in your way. Heritage does a good job keeping track of that (as well as political corruption): Index of Economic Freedom: Link Between Economic Opportunity and Prosperity | The Heritage Foundation

Of course, correlation does not imply causality and there are many factors that affect corruption (including pesky randomness). However, if you're trying to argue that we can move up the list by giving the government more power, well, good luck with that.
 
I am not saying that we should just give government the power to control us - it doesn't work that way - but for tea baggers to say that socialism = corruption need to look at those countries. They're been socialist for several decades. It works just fine.

Ban or restrict on abortion or gay marriage isn't liberty or freedom.

Many republicans are fucking corrupted, that all I care.

I believe in Federalism. Look it up.

As for corruption, look at the latest arrest of a Democrat Congressman out of Louisanna, William Jefferson who just now got a 13 year prison sentence for bribery.

You might want to look up Eric Holder's history, Geitner, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and so on to understand what corruption is all about. BTW, they're all Democrats. But any politicians, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, whatever, if they do corrupted business they deserved to be fined and jailed.

Pretty typical response from those who don't even know what federalism is since it's about the sharing of powers between the states and Federal govt. Didn't you know that the U.S. Constitution establishes a government based on "federalism"? I don't believe in centralized power which is what the current admin is doing or trending towards to.

Again, look it up and learn.
