How much do you spend on Daycare if you used them. Per Day/Per month or what not.

I personally don't need daycare for my kids, but a neighbor pays $350 a week for her 3 year old.

The $350 is with a local church. An at home day care runs approximately $200 a week for each child.

When I had to pay for child care (1994-1996) I paid $75 for the first child, then when I had the 2nd, I was charged an additional $50. That was weekly at an in-home daycare. My mother-in-law was totally terrified. My kids were the only white kids there with 7 other kids. Mine loved it there and they got the best care I could have wished for. The daycare owner was a fantastic Jamacan lady. The lady's son was "Junior" and my daughter would follow him around calling him "ooner".

makes sense.

I made a thread in regards of how you can live on SSI comfortably.

I had to do a quick google on day care costs and found 600-1000 was the norm, and you said so, 200 a week.

When my mom babysat... people wanted her to work for $8 a day... which is how much daycare charged. She told them if they wanted such low price, they should go to daycare since they can afford $8 a head per day. No babysitter can afford to pay attention to one child for 8 hours for 8 dollars a day.

Heck yea. at 20 days a month that's only $160. Too much hassle for so little.

600 makes sense.

Full Time rates in Northern CA:

Pricey is 600 dollars a month

Reasonable is 500 dollars a month

A great deal is 400 dollars a month

Drop in rates usually charge 5 dollars per hour, they max out at 5 hours (25 dollars) but I've found drop-in care for 15/20 bucks a day. Not bad.
