converting pc monitor to tv with cc

Greets all,

Was wondering if anyone could help with the
following setup...

I have an extra pc monitor gathering dust,
it's a nice 22" LG and I want to turn it into a
tv using a dvd player (not blu ray just a regurlar dvd player).
I know btw using a computer with a tv tuner card
would accomplish my goal but this isn't an option
for me right now.

The signal is analog, not digital. I want to connect
the tv cable to the dvd player connected
to the monitor using a hdmi to dvi cable, which
by the way I'm shopping for the player and the
cable at the moment.

So the guy at bestbuy tells me, the setup is all
good, will work np as it should anyways but what
I'd like to know, are there any dvd players with
analog cc decoders integrated in them so I can
see subtitles while watching tv on the monitor?
Or are there external cc decoders?

I would appreciate some help, if anything can be done
fine if not, guess I'll just sell the monitor and buy a tv lol

I think it would be cheaper to sell your 22" and buy something else. Not worth putting your money into a DVD player that has CC decoder which is rare these days.
 
Your PC's analog input is old which we all are now in the digital world, what Seq's suggested is what I agree with. Get something different where you can use it worthwhile in the digital world.

Thanks for the suggestion but thinking about it, I mean, after all, I do
need a secondary dvd player for the room that the monitor is in, so buying
a DVD player is something I will have to do anyways, Seq also mentionned
that although they are rare, DVD players with cc decoders do exist, so this
maybe an inexpensive alternative prevailing I find one.

I did find hdmi to dvi cables for just a buck on ebay btw.
