This happened at a local Walmart near my location.

A man in his mid 30’s was bitten by a Copperhead snake at the Goose Creek Wal-Mart in their Lawn and Garden Center.

Authorities killed the snake at the store, and placed it in an ambulance with the man for species identification.

The Goose Creek Fire Department tell us that only one of the snake’s fangs entered the man.

He was expected to be released from the hospital Monday night.

The identity of the man and his condition are not being made public at this time.

Wal-Mart released a statement to News 2 Tuesday afternoon. Spokeswoman Ashley Hardie said, “At Walmart, the safety of our customers and associates is always our priority. We are continuing to check on the customer and wish him a quick recovery. Our store is taking precautions to prevent this from happening again. Animal control conducted a thorough search of the area to ensure it remains a safe and pleasant shopping and working environment.”

The Copperhead snake is a venomous snake.

It’s most commonly found in the Eastern part of the United States, especially here in the Carolinas.

It can be recognized by the tan color and dark bands on their bodies along with the copper color of their head.

While there are a lot of cases of venomous Copperhead snake bites, luckily their bite is the least dangerous and is rarely fatal.
UPDATE: Man bitten by Copperhead snake in Goose Creek Wal-Mart | WCBD

I've seen several copperheads, water moccasins and other snakes in my yard (and once in my kitchen) but I've never been bitten. I usually kill them first. I often shop at the Walmart garden shops. Shiver!

Once he's recovered, completely I hope, I'm sure Walmart will compensate the man quite handsomely.

Dunno about "quite handsomely"....

Was working in my bck yard, and saw a black snake (baby)....I was spraying for ants at the time....Nothing but woods & more woods beyond my fence, just hoping those venonemous snakes stay there and not come over for a visit.

That is not that surprising in a lawn and garden center. They are not enclosed. And of course the snake could have come in on a truckload of plants too.

Snakes ... shudder ....
My first week in west TX I was driving down the road very close to home and swerved to miss a big skunk. As I swerved, I had to back up two or three times to completely flatten a very large rattler. No other cars on the road, but at that moment I did not care.

I have a friend that was mowing her backyard and she accidentally ran over a snake, and it chopped it's head clean off, and then a bunch of baby snakes came out of it... :-o

Typical of gartersnakes (which are live-bearing.) My friend caught one, put it into an aquarium with a screen lid. A week later, he found baby gartersnakes all over the house-- apparently the one he caught was pregnant female.

Well here's Samuel L. Jackson's new movie, "Snakes in a Wal-Mart"

Yiz

Snakes are scary but they are also good because they eat rodents that spread plague. Respect snakes and leave them alone.

I wish this snakebite victim a speedy and full recovery! Lucky it wasn't a rattlesnake or coral snake!

This guy has really bad luck! Snakes like to avoid contact with humans. It's unfortunate for snake and human when they run into each other. Glad that the bite victim got prompt medical attention. He's got an exciting story to tell.
