Ignorant (but funny) comment made to Jason

Jason was on AOL last night chatting with a friend, who introduced him to someone else. The new person says:

"You're deaf?"

"Yeah."

"How did you learn to read if you can't hear?"

The mind boggles.

Yea, he isnt the only one who gets that.

I have heard of stories of deaf people asking for something to be written down due to making sure communication is clear only to have the other person write "Can you read?"

I prefer not being able to hear than not being able to read!!!

Being deaf is so much better than being illiterate that's for sure!

AOL is our Internet Service Provider. We live in a rural area and that's the best we can get. Actually, it's "best" because it's "only."
