N.C.: Program Pays $1/Day to Girls For Not Getting Pregnant

Ok. Let's abolish that $1/day that people see so squeamish about.

Let's see, 125 entered into the program ever since it began in 1997, only 6 got pregnant. Either the program is doing something right, something terribly, terribly wrong or it was all a fluke. :roll:

Don't let your bias and prejudice get in the way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Once again...got a comparison group? Got empirical evidence that the $1.00 a day was directly responsible outside of all other controlled for variables? Of course you don't. Again, attempting to assign cause and effect without sufficient evidence to do so. Typical.:roll:

When people give incentives and teach responsibility for girls, where they are literally the gate keeper on whether to say no or practice "safe" sex, starts with them does the program get harrassed for that. Boys can't get pregnant but certainly the girls can. What better way to provide them the means and self-esteem to learn and say "no" or at least minimize any chance of getting pregnant? Nothing wrong for the girls to have the will and the responsibility to say "No" to intercourse. It's the boys that may have a problem with that and throw a fit. Of course, it is the girls' responsibility to make sure that they don't get pregnant. The decision rest with the girls on taking that risk or not.

You cannot have your cake and eat it if you go the route that it's a woman's body and it's her decision and responsibility if she wants an abortion or not and then turn around and say that it is not a girl's responsibility to prevent any chance of pregnancy. It is. Pure and simple. Either she decide to spread her legs open or not. If she decide the latter then she need to understand the risk of getting pregnant even with a condom. Ultimate responsibility lies with the girls since they are the ones who can get pregnant.

If you have plans on wanting to go to college then don't risk the chance of getting pregnant that will undoubtedly mess up your college plan for the future. Can't get any more simpler than that. Although I hear a big "but" coming next...

Why is the first line of defense not the teen boys keeping their penis in their pants? That is what makes you such a sexist. Attempting to place all responsibility for teen pregnancy squarely on the shoulders of the females. There is certainly something sexist about not placing equal responsibility on the males. The girls aren't getting pregnant by themselves. The last I checked, it requires sperm and an egg to conceive.

this is the same college my brother went to lol but anyway, that program won't really help much of anything. If she get pregnant, that's her own fault. She should've done protection or NOT to have sex at all...so still won't help any of the girls that much anyway.

Again, you don't understand. Really. Let repeat and clarify. What I'm talking about is the first line of defense for girls starts with the girls themselves, not the boys. The boys can try and push the envelop hoping to have intercourse but ultimately it's the girls who will decide whether this is a good idea or not. Especially if they are at a stage of their life on wanting to go to college someday rather than get pregnant. That's called, "Making a decision." Of all people you should know that. That is what this program is all about. Again, there is nothing sexist about a girl who says "No" to a boy who want to have intercourse if she feels it's not worth the risk. Pure and simple. This is a risk decision scenario. The equal responsibility comes when both decide (and risk) to have sex and not a unilateral decision. :roll:

First line of defense, a girl says "No."
Second line of defense if sex is decided by both is to have protected sex but even that is not a 100% guarantee that pregnancy

I reiterate, you're completely misunderstanding this whole thing. For the love of God, no means no, and not "Yes, I want to have sex." If she says, "Yes" then responsibility falls on them both the girl and boy.

No. The fault lies upon both the girl and boy who both decide to have sex. Both share the responsibility. That's quite plain.

Again, if for 12 years the program had 125 girls so far but only 6 got pregnant then that's a pretty good success rate which puts it at 95%. It'd be more interesting to see the full data up close.

This is about a pregnancy prevention program. Kind of hard to lie and hide a pregnancy for a girl.

I recall that when my mother was pregnant with my younger sister, she did not have a bump at all, her tummy was completely flat, her entire pregnancy I never even knew she was going to have a baby sister until a few days before my mother gave birth, and that was only because my teacher told me I was going to have a baby sibling. Then one morning I woke up to find my uncle in the kitchen babysitting me because my mother had gone into labor and my dad had to take her to the hospital. Then I went to meet my new baby sister in the hospital, and before you jump to conclusions, nope it was not an adoption because my mother had a c-section and had a huge scar with stitches to show for it.

Teenage boys have dicks and balls. Teenage boys have sperm. Think about it. Teen girls can't get pregnant on their own without any sperm. Sperm is required to fertilize the eggs. No, you miss my point. That is not what I meant. I'm sorry if my post is offended to you...

I was talked about how much unfair if "good girls" get a lot of dollars while the "bad girls" get a small account of dollars. To me, that's just stupid and silly. I also think it's bribery to me. I believe the responsibility and sex education would help pretty better than this crappy program.

If my daughter is pregnant, I certainly want to support and be there. Still, if she is not pregnant, I really want to make sure she take a responsibility and understanding the importance education. Hopefully, she don't get a baby... Yes, I'm aware that nobody will be prefect... Oh well.

EDIT: Oh yes, and it's kinda of sound like if you do act like a good person, you will get a prize. If you don't behave well, too bad! It's just sort of remind me of my old childhood when I remember someone didn't get so many prizes cos he didn't obey, had no good behavior, and etc etc. That is what I view on that so-called $1/Day program.

Boys are the ones with the sperm in them. Thus they are the first, they want sex. So it is the guys first not the girls. The guy begs the girl for sex, which he shouldn't be doing. So don't blame teenage girls only for getting pregnant...the guys has a part in this mess too...sticking their dicks and jizzing in the teenage girls and getting them pregnant. It takes two to make a fetus.
