Yep. Hence, my brief outline a few postings back about indigenous people in Mexico, South America, Borneo, Australia, etc....

Sorry you lost me. i was talking the whole point about this cartoon.

Well, in that cartoon I see two things. The apparent "hypocrisy" of telling illegal immigrants to go home (via immigration laws) when Indigenous people were here before the Pilgrims were and the implied point that illegal immigrants shouldn't go back to where they came from. Hence, saying that illegal immigrants do not need to go home. There are two messages in that cartoon. That's pretty apparent.

Anyone else see that in the cartoon because I went back to look at it? Nope, I dont see it.

Doesnt mean my view is limited. We just have a different perspective of what the cartoon meant.

Do you agree that Mexico, Australia, South America, Canada and so forth should enforce their own immigration laws to ensure that immigrants enter legally into their country to live and work, and even eventually become a citizen there? Even though in each of those countries I mentioned Indigenous people were already there (e.g. Aborigines, Amazon tribes, Eskimos, etc) before it was taken over by non-Indigenous people.

You may make a new thread about this one. I do not see this cartoon any apply to your statement. I only post it here about the cartoon.

Yep, Different perspectives. We are all immigrants at one time. That does not give us the right to enter a country illegally.

I don't see it either Shel. :dunno:

Um, I see two messages in that cartoon. That was my point.

I agree with u.

Now, I am thinking outside of the box. So by showing the illegals already being in the country and being asked to leave, the cartoon is advocating for illegal immigration? Is that how u see it?

That's your POV in this cartoon that have two mesages. Mines one, just like the whole point of one message. by the way, this cartoon is funny, but true.

I think kokonut..went a little nut on this topic..Take it easy breathe in and out..this is just a cartoon believe me..(i'd be offended by this if i took it as seriously as you) but take it easy.. its no biggie its just a cartoon!..LAUGH!:)

It's called, "irony." It is used to convey messages about, in this case, certain issues. And the issue is, without a doubt, on illegal immigrants in the United States. My POV is that I see two messages.

Um, again, the point was that I see two messages in that cartoon. Simply put. Nothing about being offended.

thats fine..but seriously..you didn't have to change the "mood" of the thread with your two different thoughts..this was for you to laugh... gosh.:laugh2:

It seems like someone just enjoys starting something when there's nothing to be started, but I agree with people who say that it has been overanalyzed. And I think that Violet is right, just breathe and have a laugh. :) If you can't take any joy in life, what's the point? Political correctness is not everything. :)

:gpost: exactly...:D

The cartoon, by the way, was done by Steve Kelley back in 1994. I've seen his cartoons before and his political philosophy is "right of center." (hint hint)

The cartoon, as I said, contains two messages. The "irony" message here has a similar message that pro-illegal immigrants use to rebutt against those who favor enforcing illegal immigration laws in the United States by basically saying they were here (southwestern states) before the "gringos" came but totally missing the irony that it was in fact the native indians who were here first.

Obviously, if we can't say who can come here, then certainly we have open borders and consequently have no control over our country. In fact, we'd no longer have a country. And that would prove highly problematic.

Since Steve Kelley drew that cartoon, here's another one to laugh and enjoy the witty humor of a "right winger."

Would someone be so kind as to describe what kokonut posted?
