lol that's a stretch. It's a british boat but yea it was instrumental in getting Americans involved.

Yes, it was a British ship and other ships were being sunk especially near the US coast.

Oh no he is not the one only that they hated. There is more than just George Bush that the Al Qaeda hate.

I agree. Just that the hate towards G.W. was particularly strong.

Lusitania was sunk near the southern coast of Ireland. FYI

The Germans claimed that she carried some war materials which was their reason and justification for sinking her.

Recently I watched the Discovery program called Treasure Quest and one of its episodes was dedicated to the exploration of the said ship.

Forgive me for jumping off from this topic.

But wait. If your grandparents left Korea before the Korean War, that means at least one of your parents was in America. Did your family return to Korea before your birth?

I'm just confused about the chain of events and trying to clarify.

My mom's side is from South Korea.
My dad's side is in North Korea and majority of my dad's side is probably dead or whatever in North Korea :(

Remember - at that time Korea was one country. My grandfather lived in a very large piece of land in North Korea. When he heard there was communism war brewing on... he knew South Korea area is very strong anti-communist so he packed up and left for it with his immediate family only. They (my grandparents) managed to survive Korean War and they settled down in a lovely peaceful small fisherman town with population of like 100+ people just right at border of DMZ line in SK. there - my dad was born. He met my mom in Seoul and there - I was born.

I actually have no idea about my mom's side history on how they survived Korean War but from what I know - they're very wealthy so my assumption is that they used their wealth for their personal safety :dunno:

In the end - we're all very grateful for U.S. intervention

Correct Royale. Al Qaeda hated America long before GWB. They hated the American ideal. They hated the American way of life. They hated the concept of democracy and equality (men and women). They will destroy the core source of those modern way of life - America.

:nono: to Al Qaeda

Thanks for the clarification on the time line. I was just confused.:ty:

But when did they attack?

But when did they attack?

They attacked WTC in 1993 and two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1996 during the Clinton Presidency. I am sure they did attack a few more U.S. interests during his presidency.

But when did they attack?
planning and training the pilots started before GWB took office.

there was another attack on the twin towers a few years before. also the USS Cole and other bombings...

I asked when not what.

that was the hint. You should remember those since you're much older than me. It was in the news for quite a while.

CC,

If we're going to go that far back, why don't we take a look at the first Bush Administration?

All of those attacks have not been specifically linked to Al Q, just suspected Al Q.

But the question was in reference to 911, which was by large the largest attack that can be directly linked to Al Q with no doubt. Of course, they hate the U.S. as a whole, but I still maintain that their hatred toward GWB intensified the hatred they already had not just for the U.S., but for any Westernized nation.

Yup they tend to take their time in planning their attacks as long as 5 to 10 years.

Nor did I ask for a hint. I asked for an answer as to when.

Thanks to GW Bush, the U.S. is hated more than it has ever been.
