2 Men Plead Guilty: Eating Family Dog

Extreme hunger does drive a person to engage in odd behaviors. If that's the case, they probably were so driven by hunger that they couldnt think rationally. That's why I would rather learn more about the story before passing judgement. Although, I think it is sick to eat a dog but if they came from a culture in which dogs are treated as food, then I can understand.

Dogs are not seen as food in Hispanic cultures, they are actually reviled in some strict religious sects. Its not the whether or not these men came from a dog-eating culture, but its the fact that they STOLE someone elses pet, killed it, and ate it.

If were living under Jewish law, these two men would have been sentenced to death for killing and slaughtering another man's livestock.

I have to agree with your stance here, Babyblue. Most certainly I can see them charged with theft, but beyond that, cultural considerations must be taken into account.
 
dog pounds kills dogs and cats every day. I dont know the circumstances of the case, but 5years is a long time.
 
It happened in Hawaii, I remmy now....and NO, 5 years isn't long enuf! Give these odd-balls 15.

I doubt it as dogs aren't kosher. As for cows or the likes, I don't know.

Edit: Nope, they aren't killed. They are required to pay back 5 oxens for every oxen they stole and killed/selled. 4 sheeps for every sheep.
 
My thought here....why not steal the dog and wait for a reward to be offered? They could buy lots of food with $500 or so. I do not think they were joking amongst themselves as they did this. Just a hunch.

That s gross!! To eat those dogs are soo cruel and sick! That is so sad to read this .
