UA: Overweight Passeners charged 2 seats

I just think it's an unnecessary hassle not to mention another way for Big Brother to know our medical information.

Big Brother, already has our medical information.


If you are so far in your pregnancy. They will not board you on a plane. I know!! I was one of them...

However, our medical information is protected by HIPAA laws.

The airlines don't know I'm totally blind or deaf if I don't tell them in advance. They also don't know the name of my doctors or my other medical conditions.

Then how can you expect them to accommodate you then? It is only fair to let them know in advance...

I never said that I don't inform them of my deafblindness. I said they don't know about it because of Big Brother.

I am speaking of informing them such as... If it ever happens they decide to rate the passengers by weight. Due to seating. Ordering online due to they will check weight before boarding. Just be honest so you can have the proper accommodations.

Just like they check for everything else.

If one needs to be accomodated, They need to let them know ahead of time so they can be prepared. Just like showing up for court or Doctors appointments.


I understand the privacy laws, But in an airport majority of the privacy is already invaded. Due to reasons of "National Security"
 
Hmm - Well this kind of action is not really new because other airlines has been charging for overweight passengers for extra seats for a while.

Let's say - hypothetically - A scenario; If we were to board on the plane and prior to that, They get to weight each passenger before they board the plane then tells us to wait for the next flight to purchase an extra seat.

Maybe that would make sense for the safety protocol and/or for the comfort for both average and overweight passengers on the airplane but if that scenario actually happens; I'd say that it will complicate things because it's already bad enough having to go through the security checkpoint to be inspected. Then, Now, with the weight issue - Shouldn't that also be protected by our medical/health information?

I think it should.

The next thing you know, the airlines will want to know what kind of meds I carry on the plane and why I take them.

I'm not disputing that. However, I do think it's discriminatory to charge extra for a health problem one cannot help.
 
Well, you know, the first class has wider seat, perfect solution for (these (ahem) people, yet that fare could be more than twice than two regular fare in combination.

I mean no offense but I think it is fair. All business are in business to do what? Answer is plain and simple... Make money, if they can't make money then whats point of doing business?
 
Money isn't everything. Whatever happened to providing good customer service? It's one of the most important lessons in "Business 101."

This is funny! Then again, not funny!...I can undy people of normal weight complaining about the seats....I had 2 friends (a couple) who were both very overweight, but likeable people!...He broke my toilet seat!...But replaced it the next day! So, I dunno who was more embarassed, him or me!

Also some of my bar stools would not withstand someone who was grossly overweight.

Perhaps the airline should have "special seating" for overweights? 2 seats in 1...but not at the price of an extra seat! Several dollars more, maybe!
 
Broke your toilet seat! :lol:

One of my friends was overweight who sat and broke my sofa leg... that sofa was then sold and bought a new and stronger set to prevent it to re-occur. lol

Did you sell it to ur overweight friends!?....Ahh, and did they offer to fix/repair the sofa? My feelings are they should!....Furniture is so expensive! And one other overweight neighbor came over to use my phone, as hers was out. I offered her to have a seat, but she declined! I don't know why...

You took words right out of my mouth, I was going to say the same. It's outrageous for them to pay double for seating fees. They should come up with another solution as making some seats bigger. It's all about being fair to all passengers.

They already do!! With the meds. part of the inspections before boarding.

That wasn't funny at all, obese people had been teased about their weight so much growing up or in their adult years so do you think it is acceptable to make fun of them by saying to put overweight people in cargo? How would you react if someone were to make such snap comments about gay people being put in a cargo?
