I know that this information is on other posts, sorry I need it in interview form for my paper. I am sorry again for crashing your website and once I am done with my paper I will delete my account. I just need an interview for my paper that is due tonight and I just realized that I need an interview. Please just answer these questions and either put your name at the bottom or message me with your name so I can give you credit.

1. What bothers you most about hearing people whe they are trying to communicate with you?

2. What would you rather hearing people do instead of above?

3. What do you want hearing people to understand about Deaf Culture?

4. What is the rudest thing that a hearing person can do?

5. What are the other unwritten rules about Deaf Culture that someone on the outside might not understand?

6. other input?

thank you sooooooo much for your time and quick responses!!

I can see why a lot of people are reading what you ask but aren't responding. Many deaf people know each other and are wary of people like you that only want information. Note that I said "want" and not "need." We've been taken advantage of before and walked on by hearing people, a lot of us don't want that to happen again.

Just a quick question though . . . why are you just starting your paper today if it's due tonight? Surely your professor wrote this in the syllabus which you surely did receive at the beginning of the semester. Sorry to say, but a crisis on your part doesn't make it an emergency on ours to answer. Ciao!

By the way, you may want to read your question #4 more closely; your failure to plan for this paper is exactly what you deserve.

Think about it.

sorry i didn't explain very well, I don't mean to be rude to anyone, my paper is written, I just reread the assignment to make sure that I had everyhting correct and I realized that I missed one small part. It is a night class so it isn't an emergency and I have plenty of time to do it.

I would really appreciate anybody who would be willing to help and if not, then please suggest someone who would be.

Again I am sorry for crashing your site. the survey would take less than 5 minutes to do so please just help a person who is trying to become an audiologist some help.

sorry

You might not be catching a cue from pek1.

Some of the deaf/DEAF also muse that if you were pertinent on seeking for information, your honest participation in this site would upscale in relation to demonstrate that you are actually on the path to involve yourself with the community.

Right now, it is no different as you are aware.. That the intention still remains to look the same.

That in contrast its just like another documentary in a nature depicting where Professor Jones of the University of _insert name here_, Maryland, visits the natives in the Togo jungle of Africa asking them various questions that piques curiosity for others. That content is then displayed on televised or documented media such as National Geographic, for others to learn of the discovery.. but the major fact still remains. Nothing changes.

That's the honest gruesome truth it is for the time being 'till are able to stand on your hind legs and prove that is not your intention ;).

I'll bite though. Here you go:
This is in the perspective of a HoH (abbreviation for hard of hearing), so take note of that.

1. This question is situational. Are you saying when they know that I'm not as hearing (a), or when they don't know? (b)
(a) - they give up on attempting to explain and end with a whatever/nevermind.
(b) - looking away, covering mouths, mumbling, any random attempt that disrupts the means of processing communication information in a feasible way.

2. I see hearing people no different as deaf people. It's all about edumucation and/or culture.

3. Establish the fact that it's another social race based on different means of communicating. For example, let's say you are American of Anglo-saxon descent. I am Fresh off the boat from Asia. My english is horrible, do you class me lower than your brethren or do you take into account that I just have been raised and/or communicate differently than you?

4. This looks like it's limited to one answer, so I'll put it at that. I put a higher priority of observing a hearing person ridicule a deaf one in the public. Them ridiculing me can come later down the list.

5, 6. You can save me/and or others the time by looking around this board. Look for a topic called Pet peeves, or something of that extent. It should be in general chat section. That should boost your answer results for these two questions by a factor of nth.

Oh yeah, if you need an alias, just use x four for me. I don't need credibility ;).

1. What bothers you most about hearing people whe they are trying to communicate with you? They become frustrated because I do not understand them. They will not help me understand them by looking at me when speaking, forcing me to rely on hearing only, which is not gonna work.

2. What would you rather hearing people do instead of above? Have more patience. Look at my face when speaking to aid me in understanding.

3. What do you want hearing people to understand about Deaf Culture? That the only difference between Deaf/HOH people and the rest is that we do not hear well.

4. What is the rudest thing that a hearing person can do? I have had mocking of my impairment, acting like I am stupid.

5. What are the other unwritten rules about Deaf Culture that someone on the outside might not understand? *wink* Its a secret!

6. other input? None

thank you sooooooo much for your time and quick responses!!

thank you very much. this little bit of input is very helpful. I really appreciate it and will put it to use, not only in my paper but also in my future carrer and in my life. I appreciate those of you who answered and did not criticize me for not knowing where else to go for information. I will leave your site now and i promise not to bother any of you again.

Perhaps this is the very reason some are upset? You came and got what you needed and now you bolt? Am I wrong? It would be nice for some who come and ask questions to actually stay and learn a little bit. This is a problem.... While you didn't mean any harm this is why people get upset sometimes.

Are you planning to work in the ASL interp field? You might want to decide if you can deal with Deafs before you choose this career. You will need to be with Deafs to interp for them.

Well said. I worry about those that are going into the ASL field, and feel like they must walk on eggshells. Don't leave us, learn more! Don't make us feel like the Tiger in the zoo; taking pictures and whispering to your friends!

He or she is an audiology major, they said. Which is just what the world needs...another audiologist who knows nothing about deaf culture.

I agree with what everyone has said about the OP's attitude. No need to add more, it's all been said.
