Update: Parents Arrested In Death Of Pine Bluff Infant - todaysthv.com | KTHV | Little Rock, AR
The mother and father of a six-month old girl are behind bars tonight suspected in her death. Pine Bluff Police say paramedics could not revive the baby this morning.
Two other children were in the house at the time of the incident. Police say the investigation quickly revealed suspicious circumstances and within hours both parents were arrested on probable cause of murder.
Just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning police, fire and ambulance crews pulled up to a home of East Pullen Street in Pine Bluff, but six-month old Reeanna Robinson was already dead.
Lieutenant Bob Rawlinson says, "At about 11:30 detectives arrested the father because detectives had enough evidence to believe the father actually killed the baby and that the mother was present and she witnessed it and didn't do anything to stop it."
Dorothy Banks is Edward Robinson's Grandmother, crying she says, "It just hurts it hurts. She was too little he didn't have to choke her. She didn't need to be choked; she was too little."
Family on both sides say the couple had a rocky relationship.
Keisha Williams mother, Lisa Williams adds, "They said the baby has been dead ever since yesterday, but I believe this. I don't think my daughter did that to that baby I believe if she knew that and didn't say anything about it it's because she's scared she's scared of him."
But police say she's accountable, "She can get the same penalty and you can get up to the death penalty with capital murder so and it's extremely serious there is no justification for an infant to be killed like this," Lieutenant Rawlinson adds.
Williams has two other children, one of them is Robinson's, plus she's three months pregnant with their third child. Williams' mother says she wants custody of all the kids.
"The only thing I can do now is fight for them and that's what I plan to do I plan to fight for them," Williams says.
Keisha Williams' three-year-old is not Robinson's child and is with her biological father.
Both Robinson and Williams are being held for probable cause for murder until the prosecutor files formal charges. The state crime lab will autopsy the baby's body this week.
