Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.”

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.”

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media."

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

In portions of an interview with conservative John Ziegler released Thursday, Palin said it would be “interesting” to see how coverage of Kennedy’s candidacy compared to her own media experience. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Her office took particular issue with a Politico story that said Palin had called coverage of Kennedy to date too soft.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.

Another report — that Johnston lacked the proper educational requirements for the position he held — resulted in his resignation from the job.

Given the nature of many of her remarks during the campaign for presidency, isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

yes, it is. it seems that palin can't stop whining about every aspect of the media she disagrees with. the campaign is over. why can't she put this to rest already?

What truth? She is being hypocritical. She engaged in the same tactics during the campaign. If she can't take it, she shouldn't be dishing it out.

exactly. she's a whiner. always has been, always will be.

Well, she's got a point. The press treated her really badly.

please do feel free to ask her to run for your country.

I have feel like that.

Election is over in last Nov and can't believe about some ADers continues to mocking or bash at Palin.

no they didn't. the press wasn't the one who opened their mouths and answered katie couric's questions. the press wasn't the one who looked like fool on SNL flailing her arms in the air during a rap song while people dressed in moose costumes danced in front of her. palin was a political joke and she was the only one responsible for creating her own reputation.

as long as palin continues to whine about the media, the rest of us have every right to criticize her. besides, since when does the ending of an election mean that one can no longer talk about the candidates?

Well, she's got a point. The press treated her really badly.

And she treated the Democratic candidates really badly. What's your point?

The press simply exposed her. She's the one that made all the gaffes.

She is still in the news. This article was from ysterday.

Exactly!

Besides, I am sure some ADer's opinion on Palin here is not gonna hurt Palin. So, if people dont like people having a negative opinion of Palin, move on. Let people poke fun at her..nobody is committing a crime!

right. palin is only inviting further criticism by continuing to complain about the media and their treatment of her. if palin wants people to think more highly of her, perhaps she should stop whining and being a sore loser. the campaign is over. deal with it.

Equal so enough.

I had seen her who bash on Obama in last Nov.

Political is always got attacked when closer to election, also I would want see about between Bush and Al Gore in 2000.

We sure love sarah palin, dont we? lol

Oh please, Palin

Palin, you did the same thing to Obama during Election 2008... Quit play innocent!!!
