Just heard this on the radio, and googled up a link.

As if the 6 year old car hijacker wasn't enough today..

Just when you thought you'd heard everything comes an incident that shows our violent society can reach new lows you may not have expected.

Police in Jackson, Ohio, a small town near Columbus, are trying to figure out what to do with a 4-year-old boy accused of shooting his babysitter.

The child apparently became incensed on Sunday when 18-year-old Nathan Beavers, who was looking after him, accidentally stepped on his foot. Cops say the enraged youngster ran to a nearby closet, grabbed a gun that was stored inside of it, and fired it at his temporary guardian.

The victim suffered wounds to his arm and side and was treated in hospital, but his injuries were thankfully minor. Another teen was also slightly hurt.

Beavers was watching the child at the mobile home of the boy's grandmother when the incident occurred. Several other teens and a few additional kids were also present.

Authorities have revealed that when the babysitter stepped on his foot, the child boldly announced he was going to go get a gun. Everyone figured he would come back with a toy.

Instead, he found the real thing, even retrieving a shell from a drawer and loading the weapon as he marched back into the room where the others were gathered.

The child is now in the custody of his parents. His father claims his son had seen others shoot a gun before, but he had no idea that the youngster knew how to load and fire the weapon. He maintains the little boy simply thought it was a toy and calls the incident an "accident."

Cops are now investigating, but agree the alleged culprit may be too young to be charged. His father has arranged from his son to receive counselling instead.

I saw that on Yahoo about the four year old.

I don't think counseling will help since he is really too young to understand what he did.
 
I think that's kind of close to Jillio's hometown. I'm deeply disturbed and appalled not because the child shot the babysitter.... but at incredibly irresponsible father as the gun owner. we've heard enough of accidental shootings by children at home.

PLEASE USE THE TRIGGER LOCK OR GUN SAFE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN AT YOUR HOME, FOR F**K SAKE! :mad2:

Exactly. And yes, it is close. About 30 miles away.
 
One amazing thing that I want to add that isn't written in the article, but stated in the radio was:
The toddler loaded up a HUNTING RIFLE for this feat, it wasn't your simple handgun bang bang.

Absolutely.. incredible in a sense.

What parent allows their child to see other people shoot guns at a young age?

This was no accident. A hobbyist that shoot guns at the range with their children and the legal age is sixteen, would know to train their children the proper use of a gun.
 
Are little kids getting smarter or something?! He actually loaded it!

I feel like a horror movie is about to happen... our children are taking over the world.

naturally - kids don't know the consequence of shooting at people... that's what happens when you play too much games like GTA. That's why you must frequently emphasize on gun safety. repeat it every time when handling gun with kid. REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT! and KEEP REPEATING!

In the area in which this incident ocurred, it would not surprise me in the least if he had been taught to load it!

Not sure if this is actual fact or not, but the newspaper states that the incident occurred at the child's grandmother's mobile home.

Therefore, it would lead to one of the following possibilities:

- The grandmother has a hunting rifle in her house somewhere, doesn't have it locked up due to laziness, reasons you know why.
- The child didn't get the rifle from her house, but back at his parent's place, if that is closeby (states mobile home area)
- The child took the rifle from someone else.
- Their parents live in with the grandmother, but as stated were not around at this time.

it was in the closet and the bullets were in the box. Point is - he was able to load it up with ease. I don't know why the parents did not use trigger lock. I hate it when parents just leave the gun high up in the closet or hide it somewhere.... hoping that the kids won't be able to reach it or find it.

Use trigger lock and no such tragedy will ever occur. It's as harmless as toy gun.
