*speechless :eek3:* I just cannot beleive that man decided to end his life to leave his family like that because of that financial crisis... I feel sorry for his family. It was selfish of him, IMO.

My hubby's great aunt & Uncle had been through the Great Depression in late 1920s and lost everything including a lot of money and business to financial crisis. They did not killed themselves over that. It took them years to rebuild their life and let money regrow after WWII.

I just read about this in the newspaper. Maybe at 74 he thought he couldn't get to where he'd built up. I wonder just how much he lost? If he'd lost literally every penny, that's one thing, but if he lost a fraction of his fortune, that's just stupid.
 
Some of rich people never experince poverty so if they hit the bottom and they do not know how to deal with it.

Sad for his family.

I have been living with very little money, never thought that I should kill myself because of it..

I guess it's all about the money for him, very sad.
 
maybe he got insurance to cover for his family? Hmm.. I don't think so.
 
It sounds like he didn't lose everything, but maybe he's one of those people who can't face failure of any kind.
 
In the financial collapse of 1929, businessmen were jumping out of skyscrapers to die. It is just starting to happen again.
 
Look - a man of his wealth and importance... committing suicide when shit hits fan... it's pretty obvious that he's avoiding one of 2 possible things that he does not want to face - criminal investigation or organized crime
 
it reminds me of my old friend's dad killed himself after he learned about owing a lot. Poor friend that he lost his dad because of THAT! they still have a lot of money after dad died. thats sad

true. thats what it happened to my friend's dad. He had to end his life of this criminal finances.

Even if he did, insurance doesn't always pay off for suicides.

oh lordy... but not surprising.... it really sucks that they didn't stop before the pot starts overflowing with money. I'm surprised that Madoff didn't shoot his face off...... :dunno:
