i'm sorry to hear that gemma, but am glad you are safe at least.

your description of using gravel on certain roads reminds me of what it's like in our metro area. there are some communities that are so short on salt already that their only choice is to sprinkle sand on a few roads.

i hate to say this, but i think it's going to be a tough winter for most of the country. even the south is going to feel the frigid cold temperatures.
 
here in wisconsin we had 2 snowstorms pass through the southern part of the state and we have at least 12" of snow on the ground. the snow has stopped, but now we're dealing with very cold wind chills between -20 and -30.
 
Hi, I am back. Sorry for not replying you all because I was soooo dead tired from coming home late. I had a mtg with my boss, and spent early Xmas day with my sister and her family because they are leaving for California today, etc...

The mtg went very well. (Two whole hours! :eek:) My boss and I discussed about my work mostly, he said I am doing very well at work (as an Admin. Assistant), without making a mistake, (It's tough work.... He told me to relax and ask him if I need any help from him... that was very nice of him... His wife told him not to yell at me... He promised he will not!!! :eek: I was hoping that he'd give me a full-time job, which did not happen. I was disappointed.. Oh, well... At least, I am still working a part-time... ) he decided to give me a raise, he gave me a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne, a Xmas bonus and he and his wife took me out for lunch at a fancy restaurant in Boston (near our large law firm office), to join with other lawyers and admin. assistants. The foods were delicious. Yummy!! We had a very nice time there.

It was so good to see my sister, her husband and her daughter last night. They looked good. We went out for late dinner. Thai. The foods were really good. I told them thanks for everything and also, told them have a safe and good flight. They said the same thing to me. I am leaving for Costa Rica on Xmas day, with my brother. (He works there for his business.. ) I am spending there for 4 weeks vacation. (My brother will check on me frequently, to make sure that I am OK... I will be alone in his new house... He said I can bring my laptop with me. Yes, yes, yes... LOL..)

Same here...freeezing outside! My house is a little chilly cuz I dont want to set the thermostat higher for fear of high electricity costs like last year no thanks to BGE's % increase.
 
it's kinda hot in the office..... my huge window's facing the sun view. just bought a cool Snapple drink - Kiwi Strawberry

I have heat at 62 in hopes I will be able to pay the bill. But it is still constantly on in this cold!

lol... i'm at work and well - it's got heater and my office window has sun view. you'd be surprised how fast the sun view can heat up your room even in freezing weather.
