Potty Training

Anyone here remember their first toilet seat?

I totally remember mine and it wasn't fancy and neat like the kids' have theirs nowadays. Mine was wood and a heavy duty plastic bucket underneath the seat. Hmm.. wonder why I chose Mrs Bucket! :giggle:

Just remember sitting facing the big toilet and my Mom thought if we sat on the small toilet seat facing the big toilet, it would encourage us to do our business.

Yes, I still have mine! It's in storage.

Oh, yes, Mrs. Bucket! I do remember those wooden potty chairs! My brother and I used one and it was passed down to be used with his children and then with my son. Sort of a family tradtition. (I know...my family was a bit weird!):giggle: I have it in storage as well, just waiting for grandchildren to use it!

Yup same here jillio!! My oldest sister made sure she is the FIRST to inherit it and sure enough, she got it!!

It's been passed down and it still works just fine. It's strange because the kids are nervous using the smaller sized plastic ones whereas they feel confident using the higher wooden one.

I suspect it's height and the sturdy frame.

I think your suspicions are spot on. Imagine the strangeness of being asked to do your business while sitting on a big hole filled with water. Then add to that a shaky seat, and it is only natural that a child would be fearful of falling in! The wooden one is more like a chair and is more secure feeling.

Wow I never seen anyone fully potty trained at age of 4 half. My kid's dad keep telling me that he's late for potty training etc. So that's why I was worryin if he's really late or kid's dad might be wrong. I guess he's wrong. :giggle:

Only you know when its the right time ( sometime we need prodding from our peers to think about potty trianing) You are the mother, You know whats best for your child. But there is nothing wrong with trying early and get the kids started on the right foot. Nothing wrong with messed up clothes - yes i know there more laundry - but it really teaches the kids to know what wet really means. i seen kids with trianing pants as late as 5 because parants are too lazy to do more laundry. As for me cost is a BIG motivator. OH YEAH i rather do laundry that only costs a dollar or so for each load instead of spedning that money on diapers. Kids learn quicker without the aid of trianing pants. I honestly think that trianing pants are for snobby parants who dont have the time to be embarrasssed. ( i am not writing off trianing pants tho). we did use the trianing pants, but not 24/7. we used trianing pants when we started potty trianing. then a week or 2 later i would start using undies during the day. I might use trianing pants if i know ill be gone to store for more then hour and my kid havent gone within the half hour before i leave to store.

My son is 3 and he refuses to have anything to do with being potty trained. We have done everything that has mentioned and he throws a fit whenever we bring the issue up. I really really am ready for him to get potty trained cuz I am tired of diapers. We put undies on him over the weekend, we remind him every hour, we reward him, and he fully understands how to use the toilet and what it is for. He just seems to not want to use it at all. My daughter was fully potty trained both day and night by the time she was 3 so there are days that I subconsicously compare them and I know I shouldnt. The dr tells us not to make a big fuss nor punish him. Sometimes, it is hard not to! One day... *I just wish it would hurry up!*

if all fails.... BRIBE HIM! bribe him that he can stay up late... or bring him to Toy R' Us.... or whatever :laugh2:

I cannot even remember my potty training.... I doubt my parents had used small plastic toilet but I'll have to ask my mom when I get home. I did remember wetting my bed

LOL!

I wonder if him being language delayed has something to do with his delay in being potty trained? Last year, he had practically no language in both ASL and English..now he does but the specialists says his language level is at least 6 months delayed.

My sister was ingenious. She wanted to use the "Big Girl potty", so she disasembled the small one! :giggle:

Mom figured that if she wasn't afraid to use the big potty, she could use it. Mom would supervise, of course, but my sister trained without a potty chair.

Wow! None of that baby stuff for your sister!:giggle:

No. :giggle:

What I find amazing about it is she was around two years old. What two-year-old know how to disassemble their potty chair? But, my sister did.

Mom walked in the bathroom and the potty chair was laying beside the toilet. My sister just looked up and grinned.

Little shit. lol

Obviously she had skills in that area!

What??? One dollar store have diapers. Very doubtful. lol

ooo

Im sure mostly dollars store can carry in the store usually general dollars and family dollars both they can agree! than more price of diapers but im sure target store more less price or perhaps little expensives diapers whethers mostly parents chose brand diapers as carry chose!

My aunt and my uncle chose pampers all the times when my cousins were babies and its totally lots of money to pay for that ever im not jokes.

When my Aunt expects my cousins and she brought diapers from stores for rooms than NOTHING! im sure mostly parents can buy more boxes of brand diapers include Huggies and Pampers.

im sure mostly hospital in states chose diapers brand they accept chose no complain for choice as Huggies or Pampers.

I always buy diapers "Choice Parent" or "parent choice" I forgot name. Cheaper than all other diapers that I've seen.

My son's diaper size 6..so I need to hurry training him before he grew more big, then he would have to use pullups which more expensive. I kno ppl say he should use pull up by now but it's too expensive for me.. :-(

After i got those comments by parents or unparents advices. Then I did do same as them..for remind kid go to toilet every an hour. I told kid go to toilet..he went sit there for long time..then said done!!! then I looked at inside toilet..there's nothing. My kid wanted the sticker..I said no, wait till you pee or poop then I will give you the sticker. He really want sticker so badly. He keep go to toilet many times but haven't pee or poop. It been 3 hours he haven't poop or pee anything. My mom told me that I better put diaper on him now cuz it would damage inside stomach if he holds the pee/poop too long. So I put diaper on then finally he pee and poop in the diaper fast!!!

I remember 2 weeks ago, he was ran around naked and then poop on the floor lol. I told him noooo no poop on the floor, need poop in the toilet. Then later, he asked me if he can poop on the floor. I said no, poop in toilet. He keep wanted to poop on the floor. I told him that if he did and he will get trouble! So he won't poop on the floor.

Anyway, So since 4 days, I put underwear on him, he pee on underwear grr. And then I try do without underwear. I let him have nothing on..just a tshirt. He finally pee in the toilet 3 times already! I gave him the sticker, he got sooo excited. I have the paper on the wall, its have 8 squares like 9th then will get candy. He ripped the sticker and put on each of squares lol he trying to cheat.
