Abt my old dog who help for deaf.

Just want to say something.

My mom gave me dog when I was 5 years old. Dog help for the deaf. Mom never told me that. So Dog keep bark and trying to tell me something. I told dog to stop bark. trying to get her to stop bark at door or phone or anything. So dog become stop help for deaf, when I gets older, my mom told me that dog help for deaf. I didn't know! I tried to train my old dog again, but not work anymore. :-( I feel so bad. When dog helped for deaf, they supposed to listen to the dogs, give them small food as for good job. Or play with them for while instead of give food. Something like for show that dog did a good job.

My dog died cuz too old. :( But I am gonna get new dog for me and my son when I find a new house that allows pet. Can't wait.
 
Dogs are great whether trained for the deaf or not. I have two small dogs and they always alert me to any sounds so I know to go look.

I always know there is someone at the door before the doorbell light comes on.:)
 
I have two dogs too, and although they are not trained to help the deaf, they let me know when the doorbell rings and alert me to other sounds too.

Actually, you don't have to wait to get a dog to help you to hear, as what you're referring to is a hearing dog. How do I know this? There is no "certification" required under the ADA and I trained my own, which is allowed under the ADA. If the groups that train hearing dogs had their way, they'd have the government require that ALL service dogs be required to be certified. I'm adamantly opposed to them and any sort of "certification." If I can train my own dog, you can, too! :)
