My youngest son went shopping mall with us last Saturday.

We were at DVD and music shop... My son was next to me read one of DVDs then suddenly faint... He fall down on the floor... You can image how I react when I saw him on the floor... His heart beat fast and sweat body and face, hair.... very pale face and blue mouth... DVD on his hand... It´s horror movie... It look like that something shock him? One of customers call the shopping mall manager to alarm the ambulance to take my son to clinic. I do something to make him wake up... He wake up... *phew*... and said... horrible DVD and then closed his eyes again...

I accompanied them to clinic and stayed with him. My son told me that he was shock when he read the description back of DVD and got him black out... He described how horrible feeling when he read the description of back DVD. It got him nightmare and black out...

The doctor examined him and said that his weight is under for his height. His blood pressure is low. Yes, he is taller for his age... His height is 3 inches tall than me. He is a pick eater. He started to not like breakfast anymore last September (except weekends). I urged him to eat something small before go to school... like drink a milk if he don´t want eat... He don´t want to... I know what he like to eat... but he eat well... My fridge is open, he can eat if he is hungry... The doctor said that many children neglect to eat and drink a lot after sport... that´s how to lead them faint.

The doctor want to have my son for further examination, tests, ....to get result. If his result is bad then he have to stay at hospitail for one week. They gave my son saline transfusion.

My hubby came to pick me at clinic up... and then drove home to get things for my son... to drive back to clinic again and stay with him till night. Before that, I want to call my oldest son by mobile phone but his mobile phone is in his bedroom.... He forget to bring his mobile phone with him... How could I search him? :pissed:

Lucky, I was in study room and saw the phone ringing... and saw the number and know it´s my son´s friend... I spoke on the phone to tell him that his brother is at clinic... I HOPE its my son who is on the phone to hear my voice....

We were about arrived at clinic... my youngest son said that his brother is on phone... :eek3: He understood my "mess" voice on the phone and call the clinic straight way to find where his brother is... :giggle: They chatted on the phone... and I drove to pick my oldest son and drove back to clinic... I told my son off to bring his mobile phone with him then I can call him... He said that he was in hurry and forget to get his mobile phone... (its his first time). My oldest son told me that he want to call us to tell me to pick him up at town but he tried dozen of times.. until he hear my voice... and call clinic for his brother...

The result came yesterday (Sunday) is good and confirm that it´s syncope... and said that he can go home by Monday afternoon (this afternoon).

The doctor explained that it could be that my son got shock when he read the back description of DVD to lead him faint.

All what he need is drink a lot and eat breakfast is MUST.... jogging... to boost his low blood pressure. He got knees and shoulder pain sometimes thru his growth... that´s why he need more execrise and more eat. I told the doctor that he use bicycle a lot and sport at school... but the doctor said it´s not enough... We control him how many he drink a day. Thank God, he is okay.

It´s his first time... the doctor said that my son will grow out of it... because many children like that due puberty... growth... He show us how to take care of him if he got sycnope again... if it´s more than 3 times then go to doctor... for treatment...

We are total relieved.... and happy to have him today after 2 days at clinic...

Liebling,

I read the link you provided and found it really interesting. I've never heard of syncope before.

I fainted last October while waiting in line at the grocery store. Temperatures were in the 80s with high humidity. I take meds that cause fainting when I'm in hot weather, so it was no surprise that it happened to me.

I'm sure one of the things they tested me for when I was in the ER was syncope. However, all of my tests came back negative, but the doctor thought I fainted because of my meds and the fact that I was dehydrated. I was put on IV fluids for an hour and a half and was fine after that.

I'm glad your son is okay and is now home with you. :) I'm sure that must have been a frightening experience for you. :(

:ty: for post and share your experience, Hear Again...

Yes, I didn't know what syncope is about until yesterday.

Yes, I'm looking forward to have him home few hours later... My hubby will pick him up from clinic today by 2.30 pm. We will have celebrate at home to have homemade pizza... (It's his favorite)... :D

Yes, it scare me totally... I'm releive that he is okay.

Syncope is pretty common. I know that if I go for a doctor's appointment and if I get blood work, I have to ask for an intervenor that will not faint because there are two intervenors that will pass out when they see blood.

Syncope is common. Make sure your son carries something sweet with him like fruit or juice to eat/drink if he feels woozy.

Teenagers have this pretty often because their bodies go through a lot of changes. Hormones, growth spurts, boys grow hair, change voice, girls get periods and get more hormones.

Glad your son is ok, Liebling.

:ty: - yes, it's interesting...

The doctor said that my son should drink plenty of liquid and movement... like evening walking... etc.

Yes, it's true over body changed thru growth... at first we thought it's something do with underweight for his height until got result thru tests that it's syncope. Interesting... Yes, my son is sweet tooth.... but he don't like fruits...only pure fruit juices...

Yes my father did have experiences with that. It was scary when it happened. It happened once when he was mowing the yard, and after that my stepmother always did the mowing.

I am glad that your son is okay.

Wow, that's a scary experience. I'm glad that your son is OK now. :)

I experienced very similar as your son, but not just once, I've experienced it for probably more than 3 times. There's some stories I can tell you:

When I was 8th grade, somehow the P.E. class was cancel with the post say "Go to the gallery", I was like okay then heading to the gallery and there's bunches of seats and a big screen. I thought we are probably going to see something on the screen, but strangely, the polices was standing around. I had to sit at the front so I can see the interpreter, but the big screen is just right front of me. The policeman warned us if we can't stand watch the screen, we can put our head down to avoid from watching the screen. Thus we started to watch the movie and it show so many of violence caused by the guns, as the movie continues, I was starting to felt so weak and my body was alittle numb so I put my head down till the movie was finished, but the problem is that the screen was so big and stand just right there in the front of me so I was having hard time to avoid from seeing that screen. Then the interpreter and other my friend was walking with me in the hall, I was walking fine till I was starting to see something like ant race on the television in my eyes and I felt like I can't stand so I tried to push myself against the wall, but happened I felt so disappeared, like I don't even existed and I woke up laying on the floor, my body was so heated even though inside my body was cold and I had to go to the nurse room to rest.

Other time, when I was sophomore in the high school, at the night time, I stayed up all night with no eating at all, but coffee. I have been drinking coffee all night without any eating anything and till at the morning, I went to the school. At the second period class which was my health class, I have to sit at the front of the classroom so that I can see the interpreter and the teacher was talking about the heart inside the body which make me think about how disgust the heart is with all those pumping and the blood flow through the heart and somehow I feel so weak, I thought I gotta do something before I collapse so I tried to reach to my backpack under the table to get my lemonade juice bottle, but I just happened disappeared, like I don't even existed and then I felt something shaking me, and I woke up laying on other guy that sit next to me, he was shaking me. I sit up and still cannot see anything very clear, the teacher was run to me, asking me if I was okay. I told her I cannot see anything and need to get out of this room so the teacher and the interpreter helped me walking to the hallway, I kept saying that I need to lay down and I fainted at the hallway again. While I was disappeared, I was starting to see an pixel design of a purple dog running to me and blow a purple bubble at me, then I woke up laying on the hallway and see a nurse with wheelchair, I had to sit on the wheelchair straight to the nurse room and the nurse fed me, then I went to home and went to the doctor and everything..

During my junior year at the high school, the teacher brought all of the class to the studio room and I notice there's hospital workers in the studio and the screen was set up, I didn't expect it to be extreme graphic and the movie start, which shows the extreme violence from the car accident. I put my head down, but I feel numb on my mouth and felt weak, I knew what will going to be happen so I told my two interpreters that I have to go to the nurse and two interpreters told me, "It's okay just put your head down, don't watch the movie", I was like okay and put my head down, but I feel more and more weaker and numb, even the ant race television in my eyes was increasing. So I fed up and told my both of the interpreters, "I have to go to the nurse NOW!", they was like ok ok, then tried to help me to walk to the door. I tried to put my hand on the door, but I can't see. I was completely blind and I just happened disappeared, like I don't even existed and woke up laying on the floor at hallway, the nurse came to me and did the same thing as sophomore and everything.

My most recently to feel that way was in the city bus just last month. I didn't faint because I fought it out by hiding behind the seat and trying to lay down.

Only my advice is tell your son if he feel that way again, be prepared for it and try to relax himself by try to lay down, and eat if possible. It helps me.

Usually at the first time, people do fell and blacken out because they didn't expect it to be happen, but later when they learn about the feel of that way, they know how to fight it down.

No problemo :) Yeah I did went to the doctor and took the blood shot for test, and they told me reason why I fainted because I didn't eat enough, then something that make me feel sick while I was weak, that is what make me faint, but never heard of the word, "Syncope", it's new to me.
