Have you forgotten that we supported the British during the Battle of Britain by sending military supplies?

Secondly the US was getting involved in fighting WWII and thanks to the Japanese by attacking us, they ended up with our military weight when we dropped the bomb on them.

Third--the Europeans were too busy pacifying Hitler without military action enabling Hitler to continue his march across Europe. History repeated itself in the 1990's when the Europeans were ignoring the Balkan crisis and if it wasn't for the Americans with NATO--the situation was resolved before it became a big mess.

Gains and Security is what Europe got. What more do you want? :lol:
 
Just remember that Poland has a right to defend themselves.

Secondly--it was the Poles that came to us for a defense shield.

If the Russians have an issue with that--they should take it up with the Poles--not us.

The missionaries couldn't have done it without the help of the church and the American taxpayers.

That was not meant as a slight, Byrdie. It was sort of an inside joke to Macian. I am sure he would demand an explanation and we would get into a free-for-all concerning the US automaking breakdown and if we really won WWII since Japan and Germany ultimately whipped our arses, etc. But I guess you scared him off. :roll: And he is my friend and NOT "anti-American."

Why should the taxpayers spend billions on a defense shield for Poland to defend against Russia when Russia did not attack or threaten Poland?

I prefer to see Obama and Medvedev look for solution together is: improve relations between US and Russia. Put missile defence next to Russia create the problems just like if Russia built similar missile defence in Cuba.

I do not see anything that Russia attacked other countries but Georgia since USSR collapsed... :dunno:

I only know that Russia do not want war.

The fact is: Many Polish people are AGAINST Missiles and :pissed: their president for want US to involve in because Poland is next to Russia... I can understand how Polish people reacts because they live next Russia.

Poland knew very well that accepting the missile shield would lead the problem with Russia. Yes US also knew it as well but why they still continued to do that?

That's why I can understand how Russia feel, too...

Well, I see no excuse for that Poland asked US for a missile defence to defend themselves against Russia... The fact that Poland and Russia don't hate each other but its about their politics in the past which is very old.... the problem is they can't move on...for YEARS.... very old... why suddenly ask for a missile defence THIS year????????

US Government should sit with Poland and Russia for the solution instead of jump on Polish Government's help offer against Russia. It make Russia look bad because Russia did not attack or threaten Poland...

I think it's wrong of US to involve in because Poland is next Russia. Sad fact that many Polish people are against missile defence...

Oh yes, I have Russian friends here in Germany. My son's friend is also Russian, too. I have Russian neighbor who lives 3 houses away from my house.

I would really love to visit Russia one day.

Just wonder that all. I am interesting into Russia. I want to visit. But I am afraid of Mafia. You know. Do you know what is Russian's Political view right now? Federation?

I was used to have a best friend that are Russian too, and was introduced to whole Russian family from my best friend, I don't hate the Russians, I might don't like Putin, but your explaination about Russia and Georgia makes sense, I don't blame on Russia.

But, there's some of thing that I don't like about Russia because they won't let those islands that belong to Japan go since World War 2, I just don't understand why Russia was so selfish of those very small islands that Japan really need while Russia let so many countries in Eastern Europe go after the collapse of USSR and still have a lot of lands..

Poland asked the United States about the defense missle shield in the early 1990's, not this year. :)

The reason why the United States didn't do anything at that time was due to the fact that Poland just converted to a democracy from years of communism. The Americans wanted to make sure that the seed of democracy would take root in Poland. Afterall we didn't want to give them a defense missle shield and then have Poland revert back to communism.

Poland has proven themselves to a democractic society and a contributing member of NATO, therefore have the right to have the defense missle shield.

Yup, I met and competed with deaf Russians (at the time they were communists and while in the late cold war period) yet they were real nice, and we went along fine.

It's just their and our governments at the conflict like always been so that is the real culprit, not the people themselves.
