Obama will change

Actually, we already have federal laws saying that if we mishandle household chemicals, we are breaking the laws. :)

Naturally, we cannot check every house to make sure everyone's handling chemicals correctly or to check if they're locking their guns correctly. It's against the Constitution.

against the Constitution? and what Constitution would that be?

Increase taxes - Bush has been cutting taxes too DEEP and we're running out of tax money to fund our public services. We will need to cut services and increase taxes to pay off our debt. If you think we can magically pay off our debt while cutting down taxes, you're delusional.
Correction - he cut taxes too deep for corporations and riches. None for middle classes.

Restrictions on 2nd Amendment? Please understand that the 2nd Amendment was created to help the milita (men) keep their guns after wars. Nothing did it say you can buy guns. It merely said you can KEEP and BEAR ARMS and in that context, it was always meant for military use.
Unfortunately - the Supreme Court's ruling does not agree with your statement. Sorry.

Redisitribute wealth? Hell, even Adam Smith, the father of Capitalism, believes that rich people should pay more taxes in his "Nation of Wealth" book.

More liberal judges on Supreme Court? YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!! Exactly what I want. :)
ok. the point is - "REDISTRIBUTE" - regardless of person's wealth. That's the keyword that is against American way and the very principle of capitalism. I do not believe in it. If I do - I can go live in socialist country like Europe.

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People."
— Tench Coxe, 1788.

Obama has been saying he'll cut taxes for the middle class and the wealthy resdistribute their higher tax rate down to the middle class.

During the FDR rule, the rich paid 91% yet people have fond memories of the FDR's presidency.

Obama said he'll raise taxes for the rich back to 39% like Clinton did.

When you pay taxes, you are REDISTRIBUTING your money.

thanks but no thanks.

Because it was a dire situation. Great Depression... c'mon. but we're in a dire time now... we'll need it. time to tax tax tax high.

fine with me..... as long as it's not for "redistribution"

When you pay taxes, you are REDISTRIBUTING your money.
Actually no - when I pay taxes, we're paying for public services that also help people to get back on track.

Do you understand exactly what "redistribution" is? Why would you want all classes (from poor to rich) to be on same level?

Using federal tax money for national expenses, such as the defense of our borders, is correct. Using federal tax money to support individuals and private companies is not correct. That is redistribution of the wealth.

The Constitution states:

"Article 1.
Section 8
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and
Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general
Welfare of the United States
; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be
uniform throughout the United States"

 didn't you vote for that when you chose to vote for Obama?

Like I said - I don't have to agree with all of his policies. I certainly hope that he will not be shaping his policies to redistribution type.

we shall see...

OK Jiro, here is gun issues

first is a copy paste from the issue sportsmen
Sportsmen

Barack Obama did not grow up hunting and fishing, but he recognizes the great conservation legacy of America's hunters and anglers and has great respect for the passion that hunters and anglers have for their sport. Were it not for America's hunters and anglers, including the great icons like Theodore Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold, our nation would not have the tradition of sound game management, a system of ethical, science-based game laws and an extensive public lands estate on which to pursue the sport. Barack Obama and Joe Biden recognize that we must forge a broad coalition if we are to address the great conservation challenges we face. America's hunters and anglers are a key constituency that must take an active role and have a powerful voice in this coalition.

Gun issue listed under urban policy
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets

what is your opinion? I'm curious

what is your opinion? I'm curious

where have you been? I've already explained my position on this. Must be in other thread or somewhere but I'll repeat. Gun Rights is the least of my concern right now because we're in a deep shit - economy's my utmost concern and I feel Obama is the man for it. Beside - it's only 4 years and time goes by quick.

...During the FDR rule, the rich paid 91% yet people have fond memories of the FDR's presidency....
Are you sure about those fond tax-paying memories? How many people have you talked to who actually lived as adults during FDR's administration?

You might be surprised at how many non-fond memories you will find. :D

making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent

longer then 4 years

longer then 4 years

who knows? Either way - gun is the least of my concern right now because I have a future to worry about.... and that's money $ $ $ $. Beside - I'm from an extremely anti-gun liberal state so I'm used to it.

I'm sure Reba would beg to differ since she lives in a gun-friendly state. We both have different priority and that's that.

Lol, Tousi, I am moving EAST next year!

dammit I'm thinking of fleeing NJ too! Where did ya go to? I'm thinking of PA.
