Hi. I have Vonage Basic 500 (500 minutes in/out) for $14.99/month and since phone calls takes place from home most of the time, I went with Vonage Basic as I don't talk a lot. That's great for me, as I can save minutes by not using my AT&T GoPhone (200 minutes for $29.99). Plus, I can use WebCapTel with Vonage (I do have a TTY and it worked very well before I cancel Vonage, but my TTY is collecting dust, so I didn't use it anymore).

Okay, I have a problem: AT&T denied me twice for a new phone: First I ordered AT&T Tilt, but have to pay $500 deposit! Ouch... That's 6 months ago. Last weekend, I tried to order Blackjack II directly from AT&T's website (the $50 after a discount), but I wasn't eligible for that. AT&T's website told me I'm eligible for GoPhone, but GoPhoe for deaf??? Crap... I got very dissappointed and scraped/stroke my GoPhone and felt like injuring myself (but gladly, I didn't). Thus, I got upset and felt better the next day. (And no, I don't have any medications; neither conseling, so I just got a hold of myself. Life is quite hard for me and I'm trying to make the most of it if not for credit-driven society.) I just felt like throwing away my GoPhone and get away from the hearing community. *sigh* :( However, my knowledge of ASL is a bit lacking... Oh well. It'd be nice to have a phone regardless of my credit. I just don't like living in a credit-driven society. :( During that day when I've been denied the second time, I just felt like I wanted a credit score of 450, even if I always submit payments in-time. Well, I've just established my credit by applying for a secured credit card since April... I've just submitted payments in-time and pay my balance on-full consectivily.

Okay, so the reason I went with AT&T GoPhone is to worry less about coverage in Florida. I am hoping to switch over to Pay As You Go, but had trouble getting through. I first tried to call AT&T GoPhone automated system from my Vonage phone, but that won't work as it said something that it does not recognize my phone number and instead, call AT&T GoPhone service from my cell phone. A couple of months ago, they have the option of customer service, so once I say that, that nicely sounding woman said "sorry, I don't get that." It frustrated me. I just don't want to bring my phone that's already been scraped/dented or anything to the AT&T store, telling them I want to switch over to Pay As You Go Unlimited (10 cents a minute, $1 for a day to use my cell phone).

So, I discovered some alternative. Garth Wireless once told me that Sprint can sign me that I can sign up for a service for a deposit of $150. That's great for me, as my mom will give me that for Christmas. So I found Samsung Ace for $99 as opposed to $49 from AT&T. It's nice to have GPS in a mobile device; unfortunately, Samsung Ace lacks that. Plus, the screen is smaller than Blackjack II. This makes it a bit harder as a visually impaired. So then, I'd just go with the Samsung Ace for the time being.

But the problem is I don't want to spend $40 for more than 50 minutes that I'll not use during the college days. That's because I don't have friends in Tallahassee and I don't talk a lot on the phone. All I go out is college unless I go out to walk. So if I must make phone calls while on-the-go when necessary, I'd use WebCapTel, as I feel it's better than just typing in a QWERTY phone when instant messaging with the relay service.

What I saw in Sprint Relay Store is they only sell Blackberry devices with a data plan. Is that all?

I'm running out of options.

I want to have WebCapTel on the go, but that won't work with my AT&T GoPhone (Nokia but not sure the model number). I just want to be able to use the cab service if text messaging is not available in Tallahassee and Orlando. I'm planning to move to Orlando, so it looks like Sprint has good coverage down there.

Problem solved but with one exception: I can't surf and talk at the same time, even with EvDO Revision 0. So that means, I have to have two cell phones. My GoPhone for voice and Samsung Ace for data plan.

It's very expensive, though: $57 a month including tax for data-only plan. :( This makes me wonder if I could get away with DSL when I move to Orlando. But then I won't have Vonage Basic for 500 minutes. I'm going to be switching my GoPhone to Pay As You Go service to help me save some money on the long run.

If I have $500 in my bank account that I can throw away my money to pay for my deposit at AT&T store, I could do that, but my income is tight... At Sprint, I spent $100 for my deposit.

So anyway, thanks for your help.

I wonder if there is an option with sprint data plan 30 a month. then instead of using the voice 20 cents a min, get one of those sprint cards where its 5 cents a minute and use that for voice ? I wonder if there would be no extra charges applied ?:hmm:

Depends on your credit history, if you have no credit history then you don't need pay deposit for att, unlike Sprint does.

Sprint made me to pay $100 deposit before and hate it.

Verizon and att don't have deposit if you have no credit history.

I'm sorry, but that's not true. I have to pay $500 for AT&T if I want to sign up for service.

Where did you get that info from? AT&T GoPhone's website?

Well, with SprintRelay, I could. But I'm not sure if I'm eligible for $30/month data plan with my Samsung Ace (crappy version of Samsung Blackjack II with no Office Mobile :().

I'm former att consumer and know about att policies.

Do you want pre-paid phone? it's means no contract.

I already have a pre-paid phone, but I wanted to go postpaid. I'm okay with contract. There's nothing wrong with that.

Is it means you want new phone with 2 years contract?

For deposit, it's depends on your credit history, if your credit history is good or none then no deposit, you just have pay phone then you are done, if you have bad credit history then you would have pay deposit.

I was pretty lucky I thought my credit was that crappy when I went to Verizon since my ex wife screwed up my credit over my other car. I figured Id have to pony up $500 deposit just to get a postpaid account with them.

I was relieved when the saleslady said no deposit I went yay! Unfortunately the Verizon TAP text only plan wasnt available at that time I got the EnV. So I had to settle for the 89 a month Nationwide Premium in order to get unlimited txt's and emails until the TAP plan finally came online this summer.

I'm just pretty much happy with my Verizon service and now I cant wait to trade the EnV in for the Blackberry Storm on Nov. 21 at $199 ($249 before $50 rebate) even if I have to extend my 2 year deal I had with the EnV.

Okay, thanks. Sprint win me over from AT&T due to a low deposit for Sprint.

Thanks anyway.
