Attention Whores?

Too old for what?

For attention whores, no ? Do you feel mature enough not wantin' to go through all this with other people who don't change ? Just ask. :)

The only problem is that no matter where you go, there is always going to be somebody there that just wants to beg for attention. They can't help themselves because they dont want to help themselves. For our own comfort level, the only thing we can do is ignore them.

Britney Spears was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, so some of her behavior may be attributed to an acute manic episode. Many people with bipolar display similar symptoms as Spears such as extreme anger, alcohol and/or drug abuse, reckless behavior, etc. I'm not saying this excuses her behavior, but it might explain why she does some of the things she does.

Some of you may disagree with me and that's fine. I've had personal experience with bipolar and some of the behaviors Spears exhibited sound like those one would experience while in a manic state.

Just thought I'd offer my :2c: for what it's worth.

:gpost:

What about someone who is always complaining about her husband and children and askes everyone for advice on how to remedy the situations only not to follow thru with the advice she has been given? Then starts with the complaining again and it becomes an ongoing cycle. Would she be considered an attention whore?

Yes. If she knows what to do to fix the problem but would rather complain about it, I would say she is just after attention from those around her.

:gpost: I think she also had Generalized Anxiety Disorder as well. I thought I read somewhere that she was also extremely anxious at times? At any rate, anxiety disorders seem to go hand and hand with bipolar disorder for alot of people.

Yes, according the the reports I've read, Spears also suffered from anxiety.

When you look at some of these stars who are always in the public spotlight (and the constant stress they are under), it's no wonder they develop these kinds of disorders (particularly bipolar since manic episodes are usually triggered by stress).

I'm never too old to deal with it. It's not a matter of me being too old to deal with the general situation itself, but the repetitive situation itself that's becoming too old.

So, if 10 people try to get my attention... that's not old for me. But, if 2 people repeatedly try to get attention from me... that's getting old for them.

Understood and agrred Vampy.

Ah, alright. :ty: Now, I understand you better. :)

How about ADD or ADHD? She don't know how to take care of her hair. Someone is fixing her hair and do makeup all the times. That what I watched on MTV. She screwed up her life.

She has already been diagnosed as Bi-polar.

Oh okay. I was behind news about her diagnosed as Bipolar. I noticed she is screwed up. That's sad! Why she want to be attention whore and Drama Queen?

I forget to mention about Anna Nicole Smith was an attention whore too.

About bipolar disorder, I wonder which one is high rate -- men or women ?

Googled this:

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance: Bipolar Disorder Statistics

Women and Bipolar Disorder
* Although bipolar disorder is equally common in women and men, research indicates that approximately three times as many women as men experience rapid cycling. (Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, 58, 1995 [Suppl.15])
* Other research findings indicate that women with bipolar disorder may have more depressive episodes and more mixed episodes than do men with the illness. (Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, 58, 1995 [Suppl.15])

First of all, please do not call Spears "screwed up." Thank you.

As Jillio mentioned, her behavior was caused by bipolar disorder. People with bipolar are known to exhibit extreme anger/agitation, alcohol and/or drug abuse and reckless behavior. Spears was most likely suffering from an acute manic episode which resulted in her symptoms.

That was a very good source you cited, Wokamuka. The DBSA is a well-respected organization that provides excellent information about bipolar, depression and other mental illnesses.
