Blu-ray player

I had tested one BD movie and DVD movie for closed caption and subtitle to use HDMI cord and component video cord into my new Sony Blu-ray player.

HDMI = BD movie: subtitle and no CC (blackbox) - subtitle is small and not sharpen.
Component = BD movie: subtitle and no CC - Subtitle is better and sharpen.

HDMI = DVD movie: subtitle and no CC
Component = DVD Movie: subtitle and CC - CC is clear and sharpen.

HDMI don't support CC DVD movie programs. Why?

I should use both HDMI cord and component cord for both of BD and DVD movies.

Do you have own Blu-ray player? both HMDI and component cords?
 
Chevy57, what is the outcome if the HDMI and RCA componments are plugged in together, subtitle and CC works, no?

I have a new DVD player, it is a replacement to my 5 month old broken DVD player :( It is a Pioneer DVD player and it is heaps better than the old one, and it is 1080p supported and it is so beautiful to see a crisp image on my sexy LCD, but am curious what the difference if I plug that new DVD player via the HDMI support, which my new DVD player have... any opinions with these HDMI cable supporting it?

If the DVD player lack a CC decoder built in, then it won't be able to transmit the CC signal through the HDMI cable to the TV. Therefore, the TV cannot render the CC because it will have no information at all due to the blockage in the HDMI cable itself.

Besides, a lot of DVD players with HDMI ports are usually capable of upconverting DVD movies to 1080p making them look better but not as good as Blu-ray.
 
Good enough, I will find out if it is good enough, if not, I can stick with the RCA way, which the captions works nicely. I will keep the Pioneer DVD player for a long time, and will get a Blue Ray Disc player later on when the prices drops. :dizzy:
 
Thank you, Banjo about HDMI. I should use both HDMI and component cords in my BD player to play BD movie and DVD movie, either.
 
Is the Blu Ray Disc Player DVD compabilie? (spelling)

I love Blu-ray and I have 3 BD movies Jumper, The Bank Job, and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

Better use both HDMI and component cords for Blu-ray player. If playing current dvd movie, HDMI use subtitle only and component use both subtitle and CC (letterbox), either. I will purchase new Indiana jones BD disc movie this week or so.
 
Did it work if the HDMI and RCA (compmenty schitt) work together to bring up the CC while the HDMI is plugged in?
