"Graduate and undergraduate students at Rice University are learning how easy it is to wreak havoc on today's voting machines. As part of an advanced computer class, students do their best to rig a voting machine in their class..."
The Blue Marble: Hack-A-Vote

WHEN are we going to learn? There were outcries of election-rigging in both 2000 and 2004, and will there be a repeat? I guess so.

Thus the reason for this kind of stuff, I guess, Beo...

That is why Florida will have a paper trail.

Lol

Actually Florida has Mixed Paper Ballot voting systems and DRE (Direct-recording electronic) without WPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail Printers).
You can find out your state's systems at The Verifier

The best way to hack to vote? To have people believe that their vote doesn't count . . . and, perhaps, to have the Supreme Court put you into office.

Thanks for the link. :ty:

Isn't it VVPAT, not WPAT?

Of course, there's always good ol' ACORN available to "help" voters. :D

WPAT are just printers to record your vote. It won't stand up to audits, though, or recounts.
I guess you know how I feel about electronic voting machines, Reba; election challenges have the courts, not the voters, deciding the winner.
Can't fail with paper ballots, or with optical scan ballots, which can be audited and recounted if necessary. *shrugs*

Just call Jimmy Carter to monitor the elections, like he does for other countries.

Seriously, with our population expanding, and with the pressure for "instant" results, the demand for electronic vote processing will probably never go away. On top of that, the environmentalists would complain about how many trees have to be sacrificed for paper ballots and printed out records.

Yup, ole Carter is a helluva tree-hugger.
Good ole USA, when once every four years is considered "instant." Ah well.

just bring a chimp with you to hack it.

NewsPressRelease

The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act was introduced in the Senate by Senators Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and John McCain (R-AZ) and in the House by Representatives Jim Kolbe (R-AZ), Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Luis Gutierrez (D-IL). It addresses border security and illegal immigration while bringing the 11 million undocumented immigrants out from the shadows and onto a path to legal permanent status; setting up legal channels and realistic caps for workers and family members to enter in the future; providing for tough enforcement; and enabling more immigrants to learn English and prepare for citizenship.

The rally in Miami is being sponsored by the New American Opportunity campaign (NAOC) in partnership with ACORN, Catholic Legal Services - Archdiocese of Miami, Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Miami Dade College, People for the American Way/Mi Familia Vota en Acción, Service Employees International Union, and UNITE HERE.

In a statement, Bertha Lewis, chief organizer of Acorn, sharply attacked McCain, suggesting the 72-year-old senator is “erratic”—a word that Republicans believe Democratic opponents use against McCain to stir up concerns about his age.

“Maybe it is out of desperation that Sen. McCain has forgotten that he was for Acorn before he was against Acorn; he was for immigration reform before he was against immigration reform; and he was a maverick before he became erratic,” Lewis said.

She added, “We are surprised at his efforts to vilify an organization that, until recently, he saw as an ally. Maybe this surprise attack and change of heart is indicative of his state of mind, and the way he would govern.”

Thanks for the reminder why conservatives are just luke-warm for McCain. Linking up with a bad organization to push a bad bill... well, there's always 2112.

2112? We will be around for that?

Oops. My bad. 2012. I must have been listening to too much Rush lately.

Edit: Oops, I meant this Rush:

Sorry if that caused any confusion.
