Hello everyone, my name is Joyce, and my sister Nancy has been going deaf for years, and now her hearing is almost 100% gone.
Her kids sent for a phone that tells her what people are saying, but she can't hear it ring.
Is there anything we can get her that will let her know the phone is ringing?
My jusband will gladly install anything that needs to be done.

Thank you all for any help.

Does she have HAs? has she had a hearing test? did she see a doctor?

thank you for the link.
Yes, she has been to many hearing specialists, and tried a number of hearing aids all to no avail. She also has titinitis(sp?).
She has become so introverted(won't go to family parties, ect) since this has been happening, and I want to help her in any way I can.
She is 69 years old, but has been losing her hearing since she was much younger.
Thank you again..

I'm sorry...what is HAS?

If you mean her phone, she has one that we call a number then also dial in her phone number, and it has a screen for the words she has to read.

May I ask what was meant by something strange here?

I went to the link and am now looking at this
USS 360 Universal Sound Signaler SA-USS360

I am happy to pay for it, as she is a widow on a fixed income. It is also reasonably priced.
Thank you all again, and I will give my sister this board link. It helps to talk with others who know your feelings.

You can purchase a devise that will allow you to hook the TTY and the doorbell into a lamp that will flash as a signal when either one rings.

do I have to purchase these things online, or is there a store I can go and talk to someone about them?

You could try calling the audiologist in your area and see if they have them or if they will order one for you.

What about the deaf scoities in your area, they should do these stuff, no?

Hmm.. Someone in alldeaf.com can help you with this but I am really not in the field to help, since I am from Australia :(

Does Nancy have some wax ears? My grandmother had a block of wax in her ear. The wax was removed, and she was fairly able to hear something. She had not checked her ears for years.

I wonder if she has a sinus infection due the titinitis. (...I hate that word.)

Have Nancy applied for a Cochlear Implant? It might be of a big help for her.

Hope she'll be receptive to all the devices that'll help her.

Good luck
