Apparent drunk driver turns Civic into flying rocket | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

SOUTH COLBY, Wash. -- An apparent drunk driver left a lot of damage and some wide-eyed witnesses when he lost control at a high rate of speed, then launched into a pickup truck before landing in the garage of an unsuspecting home owner.

Scott Wilson with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department says it was just after 4 p.m. Saturday when a man driving a Honda Civic at reportedly over 100 mph failed to negotiate a sharp turn in the 9600 block of SE Harper Hill Road.

The car went off the shoulder, then airborne when the shoulder dipped and crashed into a parked Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck before careening into the garage, damaging an RV parked inside. The driver walked away and left the scene.

Deputies arrived to find the Ram on its side and the Civic teetering vertically between the Ram and the garage.

Witnesses pointed deputies to a 34-year-old passenger in the Civic, who had cuts on his back and a bandage wrapped around his forearm, Wilson said. The man told deputies he and his friend, the driver, were going north on Harper Hill Road when they lost control.

The passenger said they were trying to "jump the hills" to get a roller-coaster effect, and when pressed by deputies, the passenger admitted they had to be going at least 100 mph. Wilson said the road has a posted speed of 25 mph with a warning to drop to 10 mph on the curve. Deputies also noted the passenger smelled strongly of alcohol, Wilson said.

The woman who was renting the property where the crash occurred said she contacted the driver, who was able to walk away from the crash, and said he smelled of alcohol as well. She also told deputies the driver said he didn't have liability insurance nor a valid driver's license.

Another witness was able to snap some digital photos of the crash and the driver and provided them to police.

During the search of the Civic, investigators found several empty cans of beer, two unopened cans, and an empty bottle of rum.

Wilson says they know the identity of the driver, but he has not been located yet. A warrant is out for his arrest for investigation of felony hit and run, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

The renter says the owner of the Ram truck is in the military and is currently deployed overseas.

Other guy rode on a motorcycle at 150 mph at Seattle and now this, what's wrong with the drivers in Seattle area

This reminds me of a guy who was driving 98 mph, swerved to avoid traffic, hit the curb, flew in the air, then landed on top of a van killing 2 parents, 1 kid, and 2 foster kids.

This happened a week and a half ago here in my town.
