:wave:Hi,
My name is kirsten. But I'm not going to tell you my last name for my safety. But I'm going into high school as a freshman and guess waht.. IN THE MARCHING BAND!! I can talk pretty good because i have speech therapy. and I have a CI and Hearing aid. I had my CI surgery when i was 9. and i'm 14 but i'll turn 15 in august 26th. Let me tell you a bit abt my history.

I went to st.rita school for the deaf before but i didn't like it beause it was 2 hours away from my home. so I went to hearing schools from the 1st,4th,5th,6th,7th and 8th grade. When i was in the 7th grade my friend told me that EVERY SINGLE STUDENT in my school was teasing me behind my back about my deafness. I was torn..But my social studies teacher decided to have my interpreter and I do an preamble of the US consitution in ASL in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. Which took all day. But it was fun. And alot of people were giving me respect. Plus I did it again in the 8th grade. My 2 friends who are hearing that were good people, went downhill. Katie did a bad thing. She took a topless picture of herself..and send it to a guy and this guy showed it and made $$ for it. which was horrible. and the school knows. plus the principal found out but he told her that he wasn't going to tell her parents. SHE was. SO then my other friend Caitlynn. she turned into a goth teenage girl. She always think she is the leader of the group. which I think not. SO then I was in my middle school band as a percussionist for 3 years. Sometimes it was hard and sometimes it wasnt. but i can tell you, it was alot of fun. When i had my marching band tryouts, I was trying out for the pit. the pit is the xylophone, marimba, viberaphone. and I made it. they told me it was a close call. But I made it. So i'm taking private lessons for it. I love to read and write. And hoping to become a teacher someday. As for the last day of school (my last day as an 8th grader) which happened on June 5th, we had awards day. But the next day (june 6th) all 8th graders had no school that day because we got to go to kings island for our celebration of graduating middle school. I didn't go because I thought it would be best for me to stay at home because I always get left out and I'm always the 3rd wheel and I'm always never in the picture. Because I have a cellphone and nobody calls me. Nobody invites me over to hang out with them. Nobody invites me to go shopping or to see a movie. But in that way, i wish i was a friend like they are in the movies you know. But then I think a hearing guy likes me. He was firting with me..and it was nice to see that. Because I never had a hearing guy like me. idk why. but oh well..:giggle: Anyways enough about me. leave comments as you wish. Oh, I'm fully deaf in my left ear where i have my CI, and i'm hard of hearing in my right ear, which i have my hearing aid on.

Welcome to AllDeaf, coolgirlspyer90! :)

It is a wise way not to reveal too much info about yourself such as your last name, hometown, etc on the Internet.

Yep.. My parents care for my safety..so i'll be extra careful around the internet. But i'm willing to help people with info about CI or life in hearing schools lol. But i'm glad i survived in a hearing middle school. Hopefully I can survive a hearing High school and the marching band

Brian is right about it, as it is wise not to reveal too much information about yourself.

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. I hope you enjoy being on the forum here. As for the Hard of Hearing or Deaf, it gets lonely when you don't have enough friends to take you seriously and have fun with you. That is what we all have been talking about when we mention about mainstream schools. We opposed oralism, but we accepted Spoken English with ASL to better understand in the classroom and the teachers. You need to be socialized with Deaf people and Hard of Hearing people in the Deaf community so that you don't get left out too. I hope you can learn how to sign with ASL which is very important to the Deaf person because we can see each other better than lipread which is very hard without making any misunderstanding what other people say. You will find lots of informations and discussions here, so feel free to browse around with all the threads here. Have fun with us. See you around.

Thanks. I have 2 hearing friends who treat me with respect and they text me by my sidekick. I'm hoping to go to an ice cream shop with my friend: Krista later after dinner..lol. I grew up witha hearing family. And I try to socialize with deaf people as much as I can. I still talk to my deaf friends online. I dont VP (video phone) but I do webcam. my old interpreter taught me English sign language instead of ASL in the first grade and kindergarden. But :ty::D
