I went out to eat at a restaurant today, and they told me that I needed to leave because they do not serve deaf people. Period.

Geez!

Ouch, sorry that you had to experience this, deafbajagal. Does it have something to do with the lack of tips by the deaf in general? If so, they need to be educated that not every deaf are the same way.

That is incredible! I see rudeness lots, but never anything like that. That should make the weird news section.

Did the restaurant people have bad experience(s) with deaf people? That is not a good reason to lump all the deaf people together under that experience.

omg how RUDE jeez
i won't go in that resturant they are IRGONRANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheesh!!! Sorry that happened to you, B.
You can get 'em for discrimination...

Well, that happened to be before at IHOP last year.

Geez!

You got to get a lawyer and sue there ass. They can't get away with that.I am so pissed off after reading your post.Don't let them get away with that. :rl:

I vote for Byrdie's solution. Lets all just go at once.

Man, that is whacked. I agree with other posters saying that they shouldn't lump all deaf people into one.

Did you take any actions, if so?

If it was me, I would raise hell and demand to see the supervisor. If that didn't work, then I'd take actions for it.

deafbajagal - please give us name and location of that restaurant. we'll raise hell with them for you

Whoa! that's not on! You have sufficient grounds to sue them for discrimination. *smh*

WTF???????? That is fucking RUDE!!!!!! I agreed with few other ADers that posted above me! UGH at that resturant!

Well, it was a privately owned Chinese restaurant (not a chain restaurant). Legally, they are well within their rights to turn away any customer they want. Small businesses have that right. What I am doing is telling everyone I meet (strangers and friends) about the experience. Many people were appalled and even said they won't go back there again. I will write a letter to the owner (I have a good hutch that the man who told me I couldn't eat there was the owner) about what I think of the experience in a professional tone.

Geez, I hate rude and inconsiderate people!

It don't matter,it's Illegal to discriminate. They should not had turn you away.
