Did anyone noticed that their VP-200's configuration is now no longer editable. You will need to call Sorenson to either send someone to fix and unlock the configurations.

They locked my configuration already. I cannot edit my configuration if needed. :eek2:

I mean the sorenson configuration is now locked with password. No longer allow you to edit unless you know password.

Correct...I believe I know why...many deafies tend screw it up and making their VP200 not work properly.

I know my password, cuz when the installer installed the VP-200, I was told to write down the password... *shrug*

the VP-200 software has been updated to 1.4.x which include "DirectVP number" which is a toll free number for VP-200 users to give out to hearing person. Most of settings require access code to edit after pressing "edit" button..

There are two password. One for your address book and phone number password. And another password is your configuration password.

You will always know your address book and phone number password because Sorenson Installer requires everyone to do this.

While configuration password, nobody knows this password unless they call tech support and plead as they self installer like I am. I can install and reconfigurate my VP anytime as I desires. My home network continue to changes as Apartment to apartment and to house. So I need to be in complete control for this setting. Recently changed router for stronger wireless connections. So therefore I must know the configuration password.

I was surprised to see your post so I went ahead configurating on DirectVP number. All went well. No password/access code needed or whatever. I gave my new DirectVP number to my hearing son to try and all went well thru the VRS. Amazing... Then I gave it to my wife at work and she tried to vp me on this DirectVP nbr. To my big surprise, it worked. You can use it for VP to VP and VRS. Wow... It must be very very advance technology for this feature. Once more, I do not know if it is complete process. Is my DirectVP number official recorded in Sorenson system.

Rick, Sorenson installer from Colorado.. Did I miss something?

Ah, basically that is correct, but I'm surprised to see you were able to get through. I didn't think the DirectVP option was ready for the general public yet... only the trainers can activate it. Maybe you got the early firmware release.

Suppose I try to change the IP Address Settings... all space are uneditable. I have to click on edit or cancel. If edit, password is prompted. Check it out.

Or try change Network Speed Settings. Its locked

Or Public Ip Address settings. Its locked.

Why is it locked?

I wouldn't edit the configuration but only on ip-address to make it work with my router.

What the HELL? Why would they lock the damn IP config screen.. So STUPID of Sorenson to do this! Last night I had network issue, and I can't use VP at all for WHOLE night (it resolved itself next morning).. This firmware is becoming POS! If they don't fix this, I am throwing this POS into trashcan and use Viable / CSDVRS.

That how i feel! The same!

I found a workaround.. Just hold down reset on bottom of VP200 for about 10 seconds.. it will force into hard reset mode and go to 1st time configuration mode which is network settings.. Only downside about this, it is pain in ass..

Nice going Sorenson!

:dunno2:

I like that feature thing that lock but my understand that Technical support can change the setting for us per our request and to able fix easier.

About "nice going", I think you are such being baby because that appear you abused their system occur to conflict mine and other videophone?

I am not just point at you and they are working on some increase security for better product in future or what...

If you don't like that, all you do is email to vrscomments@sorenson.com. Keep that mind, technical support didn't decide. Once a while I need their help and learn that those technical support are hearing and not Deaf? I am little confused due the technical support # 4005 and was told not able to take call on vp. I was like why? It is a hearing person?!

Anyway... Sorenson is doing well than any other than VRS's product.

How exactly did I "abused" the their system? I spent over 15-25 hours a week using the Sorenson VRS at work and they are MAKING serious money from my usage (I know they get $7/min based from 2007 FCC report). Just 2 months ago, my company was doing a major software upgrade which I used SVRS more than 60 hours in 5 long nights.

2 nights ago, SVRS were not even working at all for no reason and I was in middle of new feature test run for project at work at 12 in the morning.. I was forced to use backup VRS. After the test were completed, I troubleshoot this Sorenson, damn thing had locked configuration screen asking for passcode.. I don't have time for this bullshit when they make changes without notifying their customers that I depend on this service.

Sometime I have to move this VP to different location which has slower speed, I can't even change speed setting and static IP can't even be setted... I find this very extreme! If they keep up with this crap, they will lose major VP users to their competitors.

How does locking network configuration do with security? I can understand if they want to block user from changing to different phone #.

Anyway... Sorenson is doing well than any other than VRS's product.

You get no argument from me from this one but they are moving too slowly on implementing out new features. I think CSDVRS does better job implementation of new features.

I am sure they have a good reason to do this. Prolly because too many people changed without understanding what it can happen to them, then they ll call tech support with black screen issues.

If you know your network stuff, just go ahead and call tech support, explaining that you know your network and stuff, they should be able to give you the code. Thats what I did.

I wonder if the different VRS compaies should start making different VP's such Sorenson is the only gaint who provides these devices? Is Viable next?

I sure hope other VRS providers will offer customized hardware devices. Unfortunately Sorenson huge lead on hardwares which they are basically a monopoly in VRS. I sure hope they will not get too BIG for their own good.. Good thing that FCC forced Sorenson to let other VRS to use their VP.

Remember Sprint, Microsoft, Verzion?? The bigger they are, more crappy the support they provide. For a while, I have been using CSDVRS more often since Sorenson is taking way too long to answer my calls. But it wasn't as bad as last year when it took over 20 mins to get an interpeter to answer.

OJO is nice phone, but crappy firmware.. No VCO option - tired of giving my interpeter my phone # each call.

VPAD seem nice, but lack few CONs: no internal battery, very expensive, no wifi built-in, no PC card (EVDO aircard), lack of driver supports.

NOTE: I do not own VPAD, just what I have read up about it.

I remember about waiting for answering VRS calls. Sorenson was big lead and monopoly. I hope that FCC will force to use real phone numbers and can call in any dlink, vpad, mvp, ojo, etc. instead of public ip address. no more proxy numbers.

Richard's right...they should inform their customers of any changes that are made. Pffft Sorenson.
