Last night, my Wife and I went to a local Denny's restaurant late night. In the last year, I have been self-teaching myself ASL and with last night, I decided to use a little bit with my Wife to practice. Our server was polite and I should mention right now I am a Hearing individual with 30%...

It's more a study, actually. I took psychology in college and thought perhaps with a language barrier that ASL can be with particular people(s), this will help open their eyes to this barrier in hopes to eventually remove that barrier.

Go into a near-crowded public place you have never been to before and use ASL (whether legitimate d/Deaf or HOH or some knowledge of ASL), just to discover the folks reactions around you - determining the acceptance of a culture those are more than likely not (yet) comfortable with or know about?

I am an avid fan of indie short films and since my interest in ASL flourished over the last year, I felt compelled more recently to find indie short films. I found two amazing short films - both equally as powerful as the other. 1) "Words" 2) "Silent Music" Both can be found on YouTube.
