murders at cogswell, suicides in benson hall, and i think peet hall. I dont know the full extent but people have died there before. But i doubt any of em are actually haunted. Thats a crock of shit, in my opinion.

Reminds me of claims that Tower A at RIT was haunted. It's easy to make people think that by pushing an elevator button and going opps wrong one and push another one and get off the elevator, leaving the first button lit, making the elevator open on that floor with nobody there.
The light switches for the halls might be easy to flip without others at the opposite end noticing. I don't remember where the switches are. The light in the room on top of Tower A is also on sometimes because of people going up there to work on the HVAC stuff or the radio station. I think it's stupid that they put the HVAC stuff so close to the big window so it looks ugly from the ground. They should've designed the elevators to go up to the top room so that room would still be open now. They closed off the room by taking out the spiral stairs from the 12th floor up to that room because people in wheelchairs would have a hard time getting up there. Now that most people never go up there, I won't be surprised if they think it's haunted. ![]() I've also seen people on the roof of the other large dorms go into the rooms on top. Wonder if there are stories about those. The easiest one to see people on top of is Gleason because it's only 7 floors and you can get far away from it on the 1/4 mile with a clear view of it. In old RIT yearbooks from the time when they actually had yearbooks, I saw pictures of the dorms with balconies. Those are gone now. Wonder if there are stories about somebody jumping off, prompting their removal. |

It still doesn't say anything about the dorm being haunted. |

I remmy when I was at NTID. Back in 1984, there was a student got killed by jimping out of the window the nite before my graduation day. It was crazy that day. Sad. But dont remmy which dorm was it.
Heard that there was a party and the stuident got drank and dared that he can fly by jumping out of the window. Dumb move. |

I went to Cogswell dorm building (now North Ballard or Ballard dorm) to analyze two rooms where Eric and Ben were murdered. I was stopped by a RA at Cosgwell building at that time (in the year of 2005) and was asked before I proceeded to explore that dorm. I went to other dorm buildings on Gallaudet campus and RAs did not stop me from entering there. Only at Cogswell building. Anyway, I tried to sense any presences of Ben and Eric, but unfortunately, I did not feel anything yet. Simply a wrong time.
Anyway, I spoke with someone at RIT about some haunting events at Gallaudet. So far I know: the guy committed suicide at Bell Tower (he hanged up). You may see him hanging up there). Some noises at a church on Gallaudet campus. Underground tunnels are highly forbidden. Some people glimpsed a shadow of Alice Cosgwell in a velvet hooded gown almost everywhere. Not just dead people..it was several civil war soldiers were killed on the land where Gallaudet was established. Former President Jordan did mention that he and his wife living in a president house from the beginning (around 1988) and someone in the house tipped over security that caused campus safety officers and police officers arrived promptly and checked out on them if they are ok. Jordan was puzzled and confused. Later on, he learned that it was the ghost of Edward Miner Gallaudet did it. Eventually, he saw the ghost of Sophia Fowler Gallaudet kneeling like she was praying about something. |

Speaking of RIT, I sensed that it was not horrible unlike Gallaudet. I forgot my sock in the dryer around 1 a.m. (laundry room door was supposed to lock around midnight (I did not remember the hours) and went downstairs in Sol Heumann Hall at that time. I was going to push the elevator button, somehow, it opened its door for me. I pushed the button to take me upstairs. Weird.
Other day, I caught a several tiny vortexes in my dorm during late hours... I was told about something about Tower A, but I didn't recall the story. Shrugs. |

As for which dorm is supposedly haunted and if my memory serves me right, I think it was the College Hall dorm which is right next to the Tower Clock. This was during my time there but now I think a lot of College Hall has offices in it and I'm not sure if the upper floors still serve as a dorm. I remember the Florida Avenue side of the building had a "coffin" door, too.....

I do know that each dorm building has elevators that are programmed differently. In Sol, the elevators are programmed to sit at the 1st floor and 6th floor when not in use during the night. When someone enters the elevator on the first floor, the other elevator will then move down to the 1st floor and stay there. There are also elevators that reset when they feel ZERO weight in the elevators. If someone got in the elevator, pressed all the buttons, then got out... it would reset because there's no one in the elevator. Quote:

One guy was caught and it turned out that he was doing it as part of a fraternity thing. That fraternity was later suspended for it.
