Apple has not raised or changed prices for Mac OS X upgrades/full retail since it first came out...10.6 (Snow Leopard) is still the same price $129 flat for Intel Mac that supports it and even added upgrade price for $29.99 for existing 10.5 users. Microsoft is getting greedier....sad!

Full retail price set will be $169.99, including iLife 09, iWork 09 and Snow Leopard.
MacDailyNews - Apple's Mac OS X Snow Leopard to offer more reliable disk ejection

I don't see any $130 as option.

That's INCLUDING Ilife 09, iwork 09. It's still $129 for full retail, period. They also have upgrade price for $29, just like I said. I saw it at the announcement.

Well, most sites say it's $29 for the upgrade price....so I guess they focus mostly on that because the regular retail of $130 is not really needed due that the upgrade is for Intel Macs which mostly all have OS X 10.5 or maybe 10.4 on older ones.

Oh ok, I have feel that upgrade software seems not enough for me because if I need re-format and reinstall then I would have do 2 OS and took alot of time, 1 for Mac OS X Leopard and 1 for Snow Leopard, just like Windows XP (OEM or full retail) and Vista upgrade software.

I'm personally prefer OEM or full retail version for both of Windows and Mac, in cases because of security threat on Windows and mysterious bugs or corrupted file issue on Mac, such as DVD player got freeze so often and became more crash then I had do clean install and problem solved but haven't test on DVD player yet.

I have never formatted this eMac since I bought it...I just upgraded to 10.5 and haven't formatted it since. I also haven't even formatted the iMac Intel until it got stolen. My old G4 which I gave to my ex still haven't been formatted for over 3 or 4 years and still runs fine.

I also never format my HD for a long time. Unless your OS shows up some problems, then you might consider to format it at once so that your OS will be clean and run it like a tiger in the snow.

My desktop G5 does not have Intel so I am stuck. I still do not have a problem with my OS 10.4.11 - without its Intel. Oh well!

*yawn*

I can get it for free through my university's MSDNAA program. That's how I got Windows, Windows Server, Office, and enterprise software, all free - no charge for me.

I rather buy OEM software than an upgrade. It is common that the upgrades cause problems and difficulties.

Shit tell that to me about this. I upgraded from Win98 SP1 to Windows ME upgrade, my Gateway Celeron desktop died a lot of times. Ugh.

When I go to Win 7 on my Gateway FX laptop, I'm taking advantage of the laptop's 2nd HDD bay so I can install a new HDD and put an OEM version of Win7 then perform a RAID-1 so it can boot to either Win7 on new HDD or Vista on original HDD.

I would love to have Win7 Ultimate, but the price tag..OWUCH! So Ill have to take Home Editon.

Why compliant about price tag? It's like you will pay a one time fee for a full version of Win7 for many years to come, format after format.

You can get OEM version for cheaper.

Well....Why do they have three versions of Windows 7 while there's only ONE version of Mac OS X for everyone. There's other version used for servers, of course. I think they need to make ONE version of Windows 7 for everyone.

It's part of MS philosophy, I believe so.

There's more than 3 different version of Windows but only 3 will be in store or market in US but there's some difference in other countries.

There's different configuration for Windows, Home Premium is more suit for home users and both of Professional and Ultimate is more suit for business and enterprise, also some home users can goes with Professional or Ultimate if needed, I'm go with Professional because of need XP virtualization to run any old softwares that don't support or run so unstable on Vista or 7.

Windows is great for businesses.

Nothing wrong with Mac OS X for businesses either. I've seen some Macs in businesses. Even one of Toyota service dept has Macs.

Why people prefer PC for business because PCs are so cheap to buy but in long run, it costs money to fix.

My work at Enterprise uses PC with Windows with CRT monitors and it's kind of slow because it's running off a server spread to a bunch of networking PCs with no cpu. I believe it's Windows server OS.
