Nintendo officially unveils Nintendo DSi and online store, coming Nov 1 in Japan for $180 - Joystiq

• dual touch-screen, yes, both touch-screen.
• two camera, one at front is 3 megapixel and one tiny inside is .3 megapixel
• built-in browser
• bit large screens
• 12% slim

I have original DS "phat" since it launch and it's little messy. I'm glad I have been patience and will get it one when it come up in Spring 2009. :D

Also no GBA slot supported either.

That's reason there is no new GBA lately, only old school. And how it make slim. la de la de..

Ooo! New storage soultion on Wii that allow me storage games from VC.

And.... new Punch-OUT! MGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

DSi with camera, new OS, come as white and black, support the storage SDs and VC downloads? Then I want black DSi! But it wont replace my Zelda DS lite!

Biggest question: Will DSi able to support WPA/WPA2 or still hang on WEP just like old good DS lites?

I would rather wait a while before more color choices come out. They always seem to change handhelds 3 times such as DS (Phat, regular, Lite, then Pearl colors, which is even more thinner than Lite, I think) before coming out with a totally new one. Sometimes I wonder how much longer can DS (all of them) will last until a completely new one comes out. They should have taken advantage of accelerometer technology and put it in the DS. :) iTouch got it, Wii got it..so why not? I totally thought it would be included, but I guess not.

I'm still saving my DS (2nd series) due to some of my GBA games. I don't have GBA handheld.

It's kind of sad that I am SO behind with playing all the up and coming games...and I'm a game designer! Ptth..i'm slow.

Does DSi would be Gamecube style graphic for games? Just wonders.

Oh okay, I looked at spec, ugh, DS has been here for 4 years, time for to create portable that based on Gamecube engine but would alot of work like need powerful CPU and GPU.

I agree, but Nintendo's history has the habit of being very simple compared to others.

They really should have some way of using the DSi WITH the Wii and use the DSi in a similar concept as Dreamcast controllers with the mini games....THAT would be way too cool. :cool2:

I do wonder what the consoles would be like 5 years from now because I don't even know how much MORE can they do...3D? (Freaky!!) VR?

better graphic would cost more on development duty. That would lead us to pay more on per game. That's insane.

I didn't know that BOTH screens were touch...
No matter what, I know I'll get one.
My girlfriend and I both have DS lites,
and I'll probably keep my lite when I get the DSi.
Mainly for the GBA slot.

But my question is,
will it have more RAM so that you can play GBA ROMs?!?

Whatever, I may give DSi a chance to try out when homebrew emulators come out so I can playing from NES to SNES and GB roms, perhaps old MS-DOS games if DSi can play them well.

I have spend some time on searching the internet for good hardware for DS lite to run homebrew emulators.

Do you have a Flashcart for homebrew?

I have a CycloDS Evolution Flashcart,
and run a 4GB Sandisk MicroSD-HC memory card,
with the Memory Expansion Pak from the Opera Browser Pacakge,
which also gives the DS an extra 10MB of RAM through the GBA slot.

I know that this makes me sound like a huge nerd and all, but I don't mind that. hahaha

I'm pretty excited about the SD slot on the DSi because now you can go to Best Buy and buy a 16GB SD card.
Imagine how much stuff you can do with all that space!?!

Same RAM as it is.

Not always, games are sold on market compete and more profit.

In 90's, most SNES and N64 games are $50 at this time.

Remember, rest of PC games, except for edition are under $50, better graphic and cheaper as Wii games.

Incorrect, it was different time, different skill experience on field.

Do the early 90s have skill in 3D designer? Hardly. Good grief!

Look at PC games, latest games have better or similar graphic to Xbox 360 or PS3 but their price is still same as Wii at $50, is it big deal? really not...

There's basic 3-D graphic in early 1990's but my point is about most SNES games were $60 at this time since most of graphic are 2-D, some are very basic 3-D. Same goes with N64, game was cost $60 for basic or mainstream 3-D since PS1 games are cost less than $50. Graphic has nothing to be big effect of game's price, there's different of way to make on game's price.

New Xbox 360 and PS3 games could be $50 if game developers aren't interested into increase of profit, if increase to $60 would have any chance to increase profit and make more future games. Many of new PSP games are cost at between $40 and $50 since graphic is similar to Dreamcast and hybrid of PS1 and PS2, more cost has been part of profit and others, not just only for increase of duty on graphic.

I know that Nintendo is favor into simply thing, I'm not interested into DS or Wii anymore and Nintendo has lost my interest after N64 were released, nowhere to be strong as PS1, same goes with Gamecube when lack of compete that compare to PS2 and Xbox.

Xbox and Ps3 cost 10 bucks more than Wii

Hardware in early 90s was frickin expensive! Who can afford it?!? And there were few 3D designer!!! Heavy are into 2D designer.

And N64 used cartridge which add more cost. Which why PS and lately Sega with CD support offer cheap cost on format.

Proof that PSP game on disc with beautiful graphic cost more to development that end up to charge more on UMD than cartridge on DS.

Nintendo is doing it for all from low-income to high-income in all-age than rather doing middle-income to high-income or only mature or wannbe mature. It already proof that Nintendo found best games to make people addict on it.

I find amusing that best hardware and best graphic is waste and short time while flash game on simple 2D are totally addict

It's about profit, there's some games that released for Xbox 360 or PS3 are between $40 and $50, Wii is just same as PS2 or Xbox, nothing is new.

UMD does hold more data than DS card, development of gaming and UMD aren't only two of them, it has with profit as well.

Don't matters about Nintendo, there's many low income people are own Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, etc, really don't matters, Nintendo is just for simply.

Remember, arcade version of Xbox 360 is $50 cheaper than Wii. ;)

The DSi's built-in VGA cameras is cheap resolution and sucks!

I ain't suprise that the portable gaming will get rid of the GBA slot like Ipod touch. Like NEXT PSP 4000 series will get rid of the UMD disc and use Memory Card for games & movie clips, anythings.

I really sticking to Gaming handheld PSP and stayed focused at all times. I didn’t let anything take my eye off the prize.
