type of wine, but that, i dont mean white or red, i mean what GRAPES...
like pinot noir, or chardonnay, or resiliing, or gwerztraminer and
regions like, the area in states or country, like Nappa Valley, oF California, or Malbroborugh of NewZaland, or Bassoa Valley of South Australia?
im interested to see not only how 'sharp some of you might be with recalling your favourite wines, but also its actual popularity of such wines, its just intrquiing so im asking...
I like Sauvigono Blanc from Awatere Valley Of Blenhiem (which is north of the South Island in New Zealand) and Pinot Noirs from Central Otago.

I do most of my wine shopping at Trader Joe's, an American food store here in the U.S., because they sell a lot of good discount wines.

Whites:

Chardonnay:
Trader Joe's reserve, California(they have two, but I don't like the coastal label)
Black Mountain, California
Trellis, Sanoma Vally, California

Savignon Blank:
Trader Joe's
Monkey Bay, New Zealand

Reds:

Merlot:
Trellis, California

Primivito:
Grifone, Italy Puglia
Epicuro

Beneventano Aglianico:
Epicuro

Della Vapalicella:
Amarone, Pasqua(cheapest I can find for $20, goes for $50 and up around here)

If you can suggest good french red, I'll try it.

Wine prices are outrageous. I'm going to look into making jug wine. I haven't seen it since my grandfather used to keep it under the kitchen sink.

I don't have any real favorites. I try to buy local made ones as opposed to a store bought one. Anyone would run to food store and buy one. Therefore, they wouldn't be as special. I try to be "cool". I had often visited Saugatuck, MI. There is a wine store out there that allows you to have 5 samples per visit. I had few samples. I bought from there.

Same thing with Pentwater, MI. I just buy any beers that looks cool!!!

I like chardonnay.

Region? In my refrigerator. :)

I also like merlot too.

I dont know what region or so.

chianti
pinot

two wines are above that i drink lately.

i like merlot, chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, labrusca and more

A decent Shiraz from the Swan Valley, or Cab Sav from Margaret River wine regions - both in Western Australia.
A surprise I had a few years ago was a Pinot Nior from a Vineyard Near Wolverhampton in the UK. For a cool climate Wine, it was actually very nice!

I like drinking Maryland's Boordy Vineyard wines

My favorites are
Jazzberry (sweet red wine) and White Sangria

Another favorite is from Sutter Homes
Moscato

do you like woody or buttery chardonnay? or fruity ones? and I have a 12 year old Merlot that lost all fruits, whats left is raisen, chocoloate, licorice, dirt (not horribe tasting its just to remind you where it was grown from0 a good thing)...and mint (yes that), and spread out thinnly (not that thin it was a good merlot to begin with) cherry and plums, amazing wine!!!

um , well you got family you know, that;s important. but yea going cheap you do miss out the real idea of whats wines supposed to taste like, however there are such thing as 'hargain buys' but its really hard to find it, like its not matter of finding on price basis, its more where you go to get it and if you KNOW what you like and can 'cheat' the flavour for a 'less long-term age-potential' wines then you might just be in luck. By what i mean by "long-term-age-potential' is that more astute or more 'well to do' people tend to buy these to cellar it (often they DONT even know what it Means), the cellaring might be 5-10 years there wine commands higher prices, even the 3-4-5 years arent CHEAP- BUT, sometimees just SOMETIMES, you might find those 3-5 years are overstocked and gone cheap grab 1 or 2 but no more (in case its Really off) and drink it within 6 months and you can't go wrong,
and if all done right, yuo'd taste the BIG difference between CHEAP and Nasty and the mid-gone Cheap and still (nice!)..that "nice' you taste give the whole new meaning of what IS tasting NICE!, that is what IS nice...
cheers

ps. im having a pinot noir right now, its 2009 worth 34.95 now 14.95 and its corked (which si way better than screwcaps)...to a point though..and this one i got its extremely floraland extremely frame-less fruited i like the framed better (tannins) but thing with this one it lack lannen wells, it IS tere you taste it over next morning (and i dont like it) but btu more tannins it has it can age 10-12-15 and when done right its unbelieviable!!!

thats the other 2x bottle of 12 yo Merlots but i arent saying what it is...
sorry folks its my secret...

I like a nice light, fruity Pinot Grigo from Australia.
I'm also always up for a good Reisling but I don't have a strong region preference.

I like Shiraz or merlot.

Lately been sticking with the Shiraz (when I have wine). The ones I like the most tend to be from Australia.

Damn you Grummer! Now I have a taste for some when I get off work :P

For the chardonnays, I guess more on the fruity side but not too sweet. I'm not a fan of the Reislings for that reason (too sweet for me, generally.)

For the merlots, I like the wood-ier ones.

I used to really like whites, now I much prefer reds. Merlots.

My parents live in the wine region of Southern Ontario and have a friend who works at a winery. We got to go on the tour for free, at the end we got to try a white, a red and an ice wine. The red was the best I'd ever had in my life.
