Well I am an old timer and a country girl. I picked stringbeans, strawberries and raspberries most of the summer months. One summer I babysat but quit when the people did not pay me. I lived with my parents on a dairy farm (All Jersey), so there was alot of work at home to do and I had a baby brother to help care for. My first real job (where I had to punch a time clock) was at Jantzen Knitting Mills where they made swimming suits. THAT was true slave labor and I hated it!

Plenty! You might want to see a career counselor for more ideas. If you have a a bachelor's degree, you're off to a great start. If not, no worries (though if you can, I'd definitely suggest getting one -- it's the magic degree that opens a lot of doors).

I'm also a pretty big optimist. I've seen examples of people who didn't graduate high school and have become CEOs. While that path is pretty unlikely for most people, it does illustrate that whatever you want to do, you can do. You just need to figure out creative ways to get there. :)

You can also PM me if you want and we'll talk about ideas. I'm no professional career specialist. I probably won't be the perfect person to talk to, but I'll give you my best shot!

Okay.. My very first job was a newspaper boy. I do not recall how old I started.

2nd job was working at Friendly's Restaurant. Dishwasher at age 17. Just few months.

Each summer during my teenage years--1980 and 81, worked for a summer employment program--landscaping, painting, built a 20 foot 20-tons fireplace for a new local park. I was one of a few helped set up a new park at the time. Was featured in the local weekly newspapers--twice.

My first art related was when I as a Senior in high school to redesign our school mascot. That was cool! This was 1982.

After high school, worked a few months for a pizza shop--delivery of pizzas. Then a movie theater as an usher. It was fun watching movies for freeeeee!! LOL. One year at the theaters.

Kept doing art and design ever since. Did a design for a new look of an old factory turned into offices. Visually seen from the highway in my hometown. Well known building! That was 1987. Oh, I forgot. in 1985, researched for a snowmobile company with new designs and they came out with those designs in the 90s.

Still, have to have odd jobs when art or design work are slow..

1990 to 91, worked at the now defunct Sports-O-Rama Roller Rink working as cleaner, floor guard, manager, snack bar worker, pizza maker, and loved to skate at 3 AM in the DARK!! LOL!!!

Right after that, worked for a bank as Proof Operator.

Still some art and design little stuff..

In 1993 for a year, worked at Kaufmann's Department Store as sales Associates. Got a Diamond Star award! Wooo!

More art and design little stuff..

2001, worked as Internet Automobile Sales Consultant--sold cars, trucks, vans through the internet, pioneered using TTY, IMs, and relay as means of communication with customers other than just telephones, and emailing. Sold vehicles!!! woo!

CAD drafting for a major entertainment company and designed a house using CAD for a retiring couple to the Bahamas, both in 2002!!!

CAD drafter for a kitchen company in 2003...

All were independent work.

In March 2005, FALSO CREATIVITY began!!! Wooo!

This month I am doing CAD work, design work for a campgrounds for a deaf/hearing couple. Entirely new campgrounds!! Yup, all by myself! Wooo!

Then there is teaching art to the children and adults at a fabric store starting this coming summer!!! Quite a bit of new challenges coming up ahead and FALSO CREATIVITY is GROWING!!!!! WOOO! PTL!

My work history was basically a deli at age 16, a retirement home on and off from 97 to 2005.. goodwill in 1999(got fired).. currently a stay at home girlfriend.. because of the fact we don't know when we will be moving,.. and we decided it would be easier for me to stay home.

And Most Full time jobs require you to take days off...you can't work every day. I worked a full time job for almost 10 years, and I had 2 days a week off.. most full time only pay up to 40 hours a week. some more than 40. depends on the job requirements.
