What is Your Pet Peeve?

Same! I can't stand when people do that to me. Or they clap their hands in my face. I can hear your hands clapping.

Yesterday my dad was trying to lose me on the slopes by making lots of turns and crossing paths with other skiers. It was really annoying because I NEED to follow him in order to not get lost!

i've never had anyone clap their hands in my face, but if they did, i'd probably grab them and break their fingers. it would annoy me that much!

i can imagine how frustrating that must have been with your father skiing too quickly for you. doesn't he understand that you're following him through hearing? <frown>

I am not a black belt in anything but have been around self defense all my life and am always willing to share what I know and I am not afraid of problems.

The only local black belt where I was at at that time told a blind woman he did not have the accommodations needed to teach her self defense so she sought me out.

Once we established how much she knew just from hearing a person breathe, and how much more she knew just by touching any part of their body, I was able to teach her a combination kempo, akido, juijitsu, and cane skills that she was able to use to excellent effect.

One of my peeves is that so many people assume a disability means an impossibility when it really only means a difficulty.

For me a disability just means an alternative way of doing the same things.

that's one of my pet peeves as well. i agree with nika that having a disability simply means that a person employs alternative ways of doing something.

Pet peeve: People that deny everything you tell them and then wonder why you don't tell them anything anymore.

- Slow drivers (because I have no patience. or made me sleepy.)

- People being slow at the any card games, checkers, anything. (I always have mind quick. I never have patience).

- People rumors around about me without ask me first. A lot bullshit about me. (Made me look bad even I can ignore them but I just don't want to look bad.)

- Lies.

- people who think they know everything.

- People being judge on parenting style.

And I hate it when some guys must have sex everyday, or being pervert 24/7..or looking at porn too much!

And child abusers!

One of my pet peeves have to do with my night blindness.

People would literally park me in a chair so I will not get lost. They sit and talk to me for a few minutes then off they go. I am left in the chair outside in the dark at a social event. not being able to hear well and defiantly can not see.

That is why I prefer family events over friends. Due to my Family will never do that to me.

they are not good friends at all! how inconsiderate of them :mad2: but I wonder - do they know about your night blindness? I was with my snowboarding friends last Sunday and they were very considerated to me. They made sure to communicate with me with a clear view and to notify me of any change in plan or anything.

sometimes I always dreaded about going to restaurant with certain people cuz you know how when you order certain dish - the waitress would ask you how would you like it and what side dish you want. Most of time - the waitress spoke too fast or it's hard for me to hear. My friend was quick to repeat to me what the waitress said. but it gets pretty awkward when the waitress has to repeat a few times for you and everybody's just staring at you, waiting for you to answer. That was in my other friend group.

oh well

Oh I have told them how inconsiderate of them it was. But to them I was just being a bitch.

They do not understand or even care. So I have not really associated myself with them any longer. Get this! The majority of the ones that didn't understand were my deaf friends. But what to expect. I can not expect everyone to halt or pause for me.

I have several friends and family that does understand. So I am not completely left in the dark. Those are the ones I camp with and hang out around at a party with a campfire at night.

i cannot tell you how many times this has happened to me before. i *hate* that. i also hate it when people just place me near a wall and expect me to stand there without knowing how long i will be there in the first place. i tend to get dizzy and nauseated when standing in one place for too long, so this is a *major* pet peeve of mine.

I agree!

It is one of my biggest ones as well.

people that gripe about everything

People that gripe, don't tend to bother me due to they don't do it all the time.

I am guilty of it as well as a lot of people. depends on their moments.

Now, for the ones that constantly blame and gripe about how the world is against them. I do have to agree.

I can not stand being around a person that is miserable all the time.

A negative person to speak. That just isn't happy unless everyone around them is miserable.

I know a person like that.

i hate the selfish people who refuse to cooperate in teamwork

Sorry, we do all gripe, but i got griped at all morning for no reason.

I can't stand that! Sometimes people will even just leave me in the middle of nowhere, not even holding onto any object. Once a friend did this to go pet a dog, and once to pick some flowers. It's so frustrating!

This drives me nuts too! I don't get dizzy like you but I lose my place is space and if it's somewhere I don't know (like a restaurant) where the lighting is usually really low, then I get so lost and confused. It also makes you feel forgotten.
