Beats me. :dunno:

I don't think I could imagine having that many, let alone 2 kids.

She may think she has it easy now but let's wait until these children are getting older - It's going to be a menace.

Goodness. I saw the belly!! Does anyone knows the weight gain this lady had??

Even though the mom may seem healthy besides the facts. (back trouble and all)

Pregnancy does take a toll on a womans body. I sure hope she was taking her prenatal vitamins.

In one of my pregnancy and labor literatures, it said that having a one-child labor put as much strain on the body as a major surgery and the fluid loss is comparable to that of a truama.

Can you imagine having EIGHT of those NATURALLY! The woman would have died by the 4th or 5th one, not only that, there is NO WAY possible that this woman could naturally produce enough breast milk to nutritionally satisfy all these infants.

My personal belief is if it doesn't happen naturally, then it probably should not happen at all! There's a reason why God did not give us the natural capacity to carry this many children at a time.

In a natural conception twins are rare, and triplets are extremely rare, anything beyond that is nearly non-existant.

Ok I know this sounds mean but the mother is like the 15th child in her parents' household because her parents are literally taking care of them all.

The lights are on in her mind but no one's home!!!

The woman is an attention whore plain and simple. She does not really love her kids. If she did, she would have quit after 6. She is using the children to make herself famous.

If anyone is to blame, its the doctor that implanted all the embroyos. He should not be allowed to practice mediciene again and should be in prison. And his assets seized to support the children in this mess he created.

Octuplets doctor has another patient expecting quadruplets

The patient, who is in her late 40s, wanted one baby. Dr. Michael Kamrava transferred at least seven embryos to her. She is now hospitalized without insurance.

A few months after Dr. Michael Kamrava helped Nadya Suleman become pregnant with octuplets, he transferred at least seven embryos to another patient.

She was in her late 40s and wanted just one baby.

Now she's five months pregnant with quadruplets and hospitalized at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, according to several sources familiar with the situation.

The new case could add to concerns about Kamrava's practice and about whether the fertility industry needs more regulation.

In fertility medicine, any pregnancy greater than twins is considered a poor outcome because of the danger it poses to the mother and the babies. Quadruplet births are rare, with an average of 14 sets born in California each year, according to state records.

"Historically, we have been very hesitant to regulate anything close to procreation from parents making judgments about how many children they will have and when," said Kirk O. Hanson, ethics professor and executive director of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University.

"However, that worked under a natural process of fertilization and incubation. There are serious questions about whether it works in an era of scientifically enhanced procreation."

The woman in the latest case arrived recently at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles for unspecified treatment but was transferred last week to County-USC Medical Center because she lacks insurance. Doctors placed her on bed rest until the birth of the babies, which could be two or three months from now.

The California Medical Board has said it is looking into the octuplets' case to determine whether a doctor may have violated any standards of care.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which has guidelines limiting the number of embryos that can be transferred depending on the woman's age and other circumstances, said it is also examining the doctor's practice. No laws govern this issue.

The guidelines allow for the transfer of more embryos in older women. But in this case, the woman was using embryos made from eggs donated by a woman in her late 20s -- which fertility specialists said increased the possibility of a multiple birth.

"I do think it is concerning, and dangerous, especially to the mother. She is close to 50. When women get to be that age, our fear is the cardiovascular complications, such as stroke or heart attack. That's how serious this is," said Dr. John Jain, a fertility specialist with knowledge of the case.

Reached by telephone, the woman did not confirm that Kamrava is her doctor. However, The Times has verified the information through several independent sources.

She said her doctors urged her not to talk to the media because she is already dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and doesn't need more stress.

"Please respect my privacy," she said, adding that her circumstances are much different from Suleman's.

The woman has three grown children from a previous marriage but wanted another child with her second husband, who is in his early 30s and doesn't have any children, sources said. She works as an apartment manager; her husband is a contractor.

She started fertility treatments seeking one baby, but after becoming pregnant with quadruplets, declined medical advice to reduce the number of fetuses, the sources said.

Kamrava could not be reached for comment and has declined previous interview requests. A woman who answered the phone at his West Coast IVF Clinic said: "If [a] mother wants to bring four kids, so what?"

Doctors at County-USC and Good Samaritan Hospital also declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality.

Suleman said in an interview with NBC that her doctor transferred six embryos. She gave birth Jan. 26, and although the births were initially celebrated as a medical miracle, public opinion quickly turned when it was discovered that Suleman had six other children, was a single mother and was relying on some public assistance, including food stamps and Social Security benefits.

Los Angeles police said Thursday that they are investigating death threats made against Suleman and her publicist.

:hmm:

There's more to the story than what it is telling.

Thats what Im thinking. The clinic needs to be shut down indefinitely, IMMEDIATELY! With the suspension of the Doctor that did the procedure.

But here's whats got me scratching my head - why isnt the mother of the octuplets not getting any legal backlash from this. It is obvious she does not have the appropriate means to care for so many children. She was in the worst circumstance possible for even considering more children.

Right from the very get-go she should have been DENIED IVF based on her financial status.

I believe the mother of the octuplets should relinquish all parental rights to the octuplets, the other six children should be moved to care with relatives - obviously the six siblings would have to be split up. After she shows initiative to get and keep a job and get off of government assistance and start supporting herself, then she would be granted supervised visits with her children. She would also need to be required to attend regular counseling and parenting sessions. If she shows improvement in her financial status and shows strong signs of rational logical thinking and the ability to make tough decisions with a level head for the benefit of the children rather than herself, then we might consider allowing her to regain custody to one or two of her children, and allow the other children to spend one weekend a month with her on a rotating schedule.

Enough to buy him a lawyer thats good enough to get him off the hook scot-free. Shapiro anyone?

Since he is already under investigation for the Suleman case, I'd say his license will soon be revoked.

I'd have to agree with you on this one because it shows that there's more to it especially with this 2nd case being under investigation along with the Suleman case.

In all of being fair of this - This doctor needs to get on the program or otherwise, it's going to continue before his license is going to be revoked.

Good god...it looks like its gonna burst any second. :eek3:

No kidding! I can't imagine carrying that many, especially when it does take a toll on the body. It's kind of funny when Nadya clams that she had a back problem and yet she was aware that being pregnant does take a toll.

Octuplets PR team 'death threats'

The public relations firm representing the California woman who gave birth to octuplets says it is stepping down after getting death threats.

The Killeen Furtney Group has received dozens of threats, the head of the Los Angeles agency, Joann Killeen, told the Associated Press (AP) news agency.

Nadya Suleman, 33, gave birth to the eight babies on 26 January.

The single mother of six other children has been criticised for using fertility treatments and receiving state aid.

All 14 of her children were born through in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

Wood chipper threat

Ms Killeen said she had received more than 100 e-mailed threats and many others that were left on the agency's voice-mail, AP reported.

"They'd put me in the wood chipper and throw me in the bottom of the ocean and hope I die," she is quoted as saying.

Some of the threats were also directed at Ms Suleman, she said.

"We've never had a public reaction to us representing a client pro bono like this, ever."

Ms Suleman hired the agency shortly after the octuplets were born. Ms Killeen made a flurry of TV appearances, saying her client had been deluged with offers to tell her story.

But public reaction to the story soured after it was revealed that Ms Suleman was a single-mother receiving state aid to help her raise her other six children, aged two to seven.

Her use of IVF to give birth to 14 children has also been criticised by fertility experts.

They have raised concerns about the number of embryos transferred into Ms Suleman's uterus and questioned whether medical guidelines were met.

Ms Suleman has said having a "huge family" was her "dream".

The octuplets were delivered nine weeks early by Caesarean section in a hospital near Los Angeles and all are reported to be doing well.

'Death threats'? What a mature!!!

Sure, we might disagree what and how she did but it´s no reason to make death threats or attempts on her life.
